The second half of the double header in the Indian Premier League on Sunday sees two more teams getting their seasons up and running when the Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Capitals embark on what they hope will be a successful campaign.
Both teams are in that way of thinking that they will want to push on from indifferent season’s last time out to push for the top four and beyond. With that in mind a fast beginning will suit both so this should be a competitive contest.
Mumbai Indians
There is always a team who has a troubled build up to the start of this tournament and this year it has been the turn of the Mumbai Indians, who have seen their bowling resources limited quite badly on the event of the competition. Often things like that galvanise a team and make them stick together and come out firing but having to change plans so late is not ideal.
The other thing that is not ideal for them are a few fitness concerns in their lower order. They are a side who are going to have to rely a lot on all-rounders this season so they really need them in good nick. One thing to watch out for is Rohit Sharma has confirmed he will open throughout the campaign. That should make the Indians a stronger outfit.
Delhi Capitals
It is the start of a new era for the Delhi Capitals with them dumping their Daredevils nickname to become the Capitals and now they have start performing on the pitch as a result. This has been an extremely talented team for a couple of campaigns now but the time has come to match talent with winning matches and if they can do that they should enjoy a fine season.
The beauty of this Delhi side is the number of top class options they have in their bowling ranks. They have quality seamers and great mystery in the spin department and they should allow the batsmen the freedom to go out and express themselves. Their batting looks to be deep and in good order so everything is in place for Delhi to have a huge season.
Team News
Adam Milne was ruled out of the tournament in the lead up to it and it would appear that Lasith Malinga is going to miss the start of the campaign too. Mahela Jayawardene has stressed that Hardik Pandya is fit. Quinton de Kock is in the country.
Delhi Capitals will be without Chris Morris for this match as he is competing for South Africa at the same time as this match. Kagiso Rabada is available if selected while the big signing Shikhar Dhawan will make his debut.

Betting
I think I’m going to see how Mumbai Indians line up and approach this competition before I bet on them but I want to see Delhi Capitals winning matches before I chance my arm on them as well so as far as the match outcome is concerned I’m going to keep my powder dry. I will take one from the side markets though for this one.
I’m expecting both these teams to big high scoring and big hitting this season. They both bat deep but they both have an insane amount of power running through their core at the top. We know all about this Wankhede wicket. It is always flat and the boundaries are always in reach here so I’m expecting to see the sixes flow here. A 13.5 line should be covered comfortably.
