There is one more match in the Indian Premier League on Wednesday and it comes from the Brabourne Stadium after the clash between the Delhi Capitals and the Punjab Kings was moved from the MCA Stadium in Pune due to Covid issues in the camp of the 2021 table toppers.
Both these teams have fallen away from the top four over the last week or so and will need to start to find their form again quickly if they are going to be a part of playing off for the title come the end of the campaign. They could do with starting that here.
Delhi Capitals
The Delhi Capitals won their opening match of the season but they have only won one of the four they have played since then which is a vast contrast on last term when they blazed away with the early stages of the competition before falling in a heap in the finals. It might well be that their beginning to this season has been a hangover from the way the previous campaign ended but they will need to shake some life into themselves sooner rather than later.
The one issue we have to keep an eye on here is the Covid virus running through the camp. The consensus appears to be that only Mitchell Marsh has tested positive from a playing perspective but it would be no surprise were that to change on the morning of the game. He will still leave a pretty big hole in a side whose batting has flattered to deceive a little too much this term and whose bowling hasn’t quite been at the levels we would expect it to be.
Punjab Kings
The Punjab Kings have been consistently inconsistent so far this season. They have won three matches and followed each of them with a defeat. The good news for their supporters is that if the sequence gets extended here then this is a match they are going to win. I guess you are going to get inconsistency when a team adopts the tactics that the Punjab Kings do in that everything must go to the boundary but they’d still hope their strategy would work a little more than it has so far.
There are a few concerns about this Punjab Kings side. I have mentioned in the past that I have issues with none of them seemingly using their brains in the middle of the innings when they have lost a few early wickets. One or two big players in the top five haven’t really got going this season and too many of their bowlers are going around the park. That last issue is probably the biggest one and that needs to end pretty quick if they are to be in the top four come the end of the season.

Key Players
With Mitchell Marsh out of this match you would imagine that places greater emphasis on the innings of David Warner for the Delhi Capitals in this match. Delhi are going to need a lot of runs to live with this Punjab batting and Warner is the man to provide them.
You would like to think that Kagiso Rabada will be fired up for this battle against his former team and if he can take care of the Capitals’ top order then it would open up a huge route to success for the Punjab Kings in this one.
Betting
I am struggling to see how this isn’t a high scoring match. The only time that there hasn’t been a high scoring match in the eight that have been played at the Brabourne Stadium is when the Chennai Super Kings stunk the place out chasing against the Punjab Kings. 175 is the lowest first innings score in the eight matches on this ground this season and scores of 199 and above have been posted first on four occasions. There have been two scores of 200 in the second innings in those eight matches while the Sunrisers reached their 176 target with 13 balls left else that might have been another.
That makes us choose between the run line and the boundary line. Both are pretty high it must be said. The run line is 352.5 while the boundary line is 44.5. I think I prefer the latter. That offers us up the potential of a team scoring 200+ with 30 boundaries and then the second innings going badly and not reaching 150 but we get the 15 boundaries we need. This line has been covered in seven of the eight matches here this season and in five of those matches they have been more than 50 boundaries. I think the over covers here.
