The majority of the matches from the MLS this weekend take place on Saturday evening and with both Conference leaders in action it promises to be yet another exciting night of football in the leading American league.
We are heading towards the opening of the MLS transfer window so the sides in action will be looking to get themselves into a competitive position in their respective tables before reinforcements arrive to the squads.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off time in brackets)
Seattle Sounders vs Portland Timbers (21.30)
Atlanta United vs Orlando City (00.00)
Montreal Impact vs Sporting Kansas City (00.00)
Columbus Crew vs Real Salt Lake (00.30)
New England Revolution vs DC United (00.30)
Chicago Fire vs New York City FC (01.00)
Los Angeles FC vs Philadelphia Union (01.00)
San Jose Earthquakes vs Los Angeles Galaxy (03.00)
Big Matches
There are three matches live on TV for us to enjoy in the UK on Saturday evening. The first of those is the latest Cascadia Cup match between Seattle Sounders and the Portland Timbers before the focus switches to Georgia where Atlanta United look to maintain their lead in the Eastern Conference when they take on Orlando City. The final match of the three is the CaliClasico battle between San Jose Earthquakes and Los Angeles Galaxy in the Western Conference.
Best of the Rest
All eyes will no doubt be on Gillette Stadium to see if the arrival of Wayne Rooney has had any effect on the DC United squad. The England star is ineligible for the match but may be in attendance. They take on New England Revolution while the Western Conference leaders, Sporting Kansas City, make the trip up to Canada to face Montreal Impact. New York City FC will be looking for a second win in as many matches under their new coach when they face Chicago Fire in the Windy City.

Betting
I’ll go with two bets over the course of these matches with the first one coming in the form of Atlanta United who I think will have far too much for Orlando City. We could be forgiven for thinking Atlanta are in a poor run of form but they are actually unbeaten in five matches unlike their opponents here who have lost their last seven and are beginning to ship goals at an alarming rate. Atlanta are usually dynamite at home and I expect them to cover a 1.5 goal start in this one.
I also like under 2.5 goals in the Montreal Impact against Sporting Kansas City match. Only one of Montreal’s last eight matches have contained three goals or more and that came against a leaky Orlando City side which needed a deep injury time goal for the third to arrive. They have assumed a really solid defensive set up but do struggle for goals as do their opponents whose last five on the road have also been under 2.5 goals. In fairness Sporting Kansas City have struggled for goals anywhere since Felipe Gutierrez got injured and he’s out of this match so I’m expecting a low scoring one here.
