The latest weekend in the MLS campaign draws to a close on Sunday evening when the final two matches are played out. It has been an entertaining set of fixtures so far and we should be set for more of the same here.
We have a match from the Eastern Conference and one from the Western Conference across the two games with the Eastern clash on TV for those of us in the UK while the usual streams will be available for the other one.
Toronto FC vs New York Red Bulls (21.30)
The Eastern Conference clash sees the champions Toronto FC hosting the side whom it remains a mystery have never been MLS winners in New York Red Bulls in what should be a very good beginning to the evening.
Toronto FC have really struggled this season but there have been a few signs that they are beginning to turn their fortunes around despite the loss in New York last weekend. They are beginning to score plenty of goals which is important but they can’t keep them out at the other end which is an issue. The Red Bulls are similar. They carry a huge goal threat but are averaging more than a goal a game against them this season.
The situation that the champions are in should ensure that we get an open and attacking game here. They have to win football matches which should give New York Red Bulls the chances they need so I can see an end-to-end game here where over 3 goals is covered.

Vancouver Whitecaps vs Colorado Rapids (00.00)
The final match of the weekend comes from the Western Conference as the Vancouver Whitecaps look to cement their position in the play-off places when they host arguably the worst side in MLS this season in the Colorado Rapids.
Even at this stage of the campaign the Rapids are playing for pride and perhaps a decent draft position to build on next season but after their success last season the Whitecaps are under pressure to kick on and get themselves up the table. Vancouver won’t be helped by Kendall Waston will being on international duty and Yordy Reyna being suspended here but I still think they will have too much for Colorado in this one.
Colorado have just one point in their six road matches this season and have only scored two goals in that time. They haven’t score in any of their last four on the road and now they head to Vancouver who have scored 14 goals in their last five at home, none of which they have lost. This all points to a comfortable home win to me.
