The remaining schedule in the Major League Soccer regular season has been confirmed and on Wednesday night it continues when all 26 sides are in action on the same night for the first time this term.
We now know that there are nine matches left in the regular season for each side and as the games begin to run out the points start to carry added significance both for teams chasing a play-off spot and indeed seedings in the postseason. Four of the 13 matches are live on TV in the UK.

New England Revolution vs Montreal Impact (22.00)

Big Matches
The televised action begins fairly early in the piece when two of the better Eastern Conference sides in the last few years meet as New York City FC host Toronto FC at their temporary Red Bull Arena home. The team who usually play there are also on television on Wednesday night when the New York Red Bulls make their way back to Florida to take on an Inter Miami side who are expected to improve dramatically after the capture of Gonzalo Higuain. The attention then turns to the Western Conference as Real Salt Lake host LA Galaxy in the third TV game before the televised action concludes with the latest Cascadia Cup clash as the Portland Timbers host the champions Seattle Sounders.
Best of the Rest
The Eastern Conference leaders are in action when the Columbus Crew host Minnesota United in a good looking game. Philadelphia Union in second will be hoping there is a slip up from the leaders that they can take advantage of when they go away to FC Cincinnati while there is a huge game for Atlanta United when they host FC Dallas. The Five Stripes are now without a win in five matches and sit outside the play-off spots. The other key matches sees Sporting Kansas City taking on Orlando City while Los Angeles FC welcome a surprisingly in form Vancouver Whitecaps to California.
Betting
I’ll go with three bets over the course of the night. The first one comes from down in Florida where Inter Miami are sure to get a huge boost from the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain, who when he is fully up to speed will surely be a level above the MLS still. Miami host a New York Red Bulls side who have fallen apart and even the change in coach has done little to nothing for their fortunes. A lack of firepower is becoming a serious issue for the Red Bulls and until that is addressed they are likely to struggle. Inter Miami definitely don’t lack for that. They have some big guns in attacking areas and should be full of confidence after their win in Atlanta at the weekend. I’ll take Diego Alonso’s big spenders here.
Nashville SC are never going to be labelled one of the prettier teams to watch but to their credit they are on a nice little run of results losing one of their last five matches and that being away to the Columbus Crew which isn’t bad to be fair. They are unbeaten on their home patch though and although DC United went to New York Red Bulls and won on their last away outing, I’ve just highlighted the issues with them so that win doesn’t carry the weight it usually might. That was DC’s only win in their last seven matches though and they look a side every bit as poor as that record suggests. Nashville will never get the entertainment plaudits but their style is effective and I expect them to win here.
The final bet I like is for Philadelphia Union to come away from FC Cincinnati with a positive result. To be fair to Cincinnati they have been hard to beat under Jaap Stam but they have only won one of their 10 matches away from the MLS is Back tournament and that was at New York Red Bulls at the weekend but I’ve highlighted their woes already. Cincinnati aren’t going to get anywhere as a side until they start scoring goals. They’ve only scored eight in 12 regular season matches and only two in seven since the MLS is Back event. Being hard to beat is one thing but you have to score in this league and especially against a Philadelphia Union side who have won five of their last six with the exception a loss in Columbus which is the default result in the league at the minute. I’m not a fan of backing away sides in this league but I expect this confident Philadelphia side to be too good here.
