Big Matches
The televised action begins right from the start of the night as two teams in the Eastern Conference meet when New York Red Bulls host an Orlando City side who have picked absolutely the wrong time to pick to go five matches without a win. The televised action then heads to Ohio for what should be an entertaining match between FC Cincinnati and Atlanta United in a clash which could be key for the chances of the visitors making the postseason. The final televised match on this side of the pond sees the runaway leaders in the race for the Supporters’ Shield, Los Angeles FC, host Charlotte FC.
Best of the Rest
The Eastern Conference leaders Philadelphia Union are on show on Saturday evening when they go up against a Chicago Fire who have lived up to their name in recent times and are in great form. The pick of the matches might be the one at BMO Field where Toronto FC take on Portland Timbers in a match which is going to have a lot of quality players in it. LA Galaxy will look to bounce back from defeat last week when they host the Vancouver Whitecaps while Austin FC will take on Sporting Kansas City. Colorado Rapids look to have finally found form and they welcome Columbus Crew to Denver. Elsewhere the champions New York City FC go to Inter Miami and New England Revolution take on DC United.
Betting
I’m expecting goals in the match between Toronto FC and the Portland Timbers. I don’t think it is too much of a surprise that Toronto have caught fire since the Italian pair of Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi have arrived at BMO Field. I expected Toronto FC to launch a title challenge in the second half of the campaign and they might yet be able to do that. Time will tell whether they have left themselves too much to do but they are going to entertain trying.
They might have the right dance partners to entertain here because Portland Timbers don’t tend to take a backward step when it comes to going forward and looking to find the back of the net. This is a side who have been to Seattle and scored three times this season and also found the back of the net four times in Minnesota so they will fancy their chances of running in a few goals here. Toronto have to win this match while Portland could do with winning it so I like over 3 goals in this one.
