Big Matches
The televised action begins in the Eastern Conference where the last two sides currently in the play-off zone meet when Columbus Crew in seventh host an Inter Miami team who begin the night in sixth spot. The attention then turns to the Western Conference and the race for the Supporters’ Shield. Los Angeles FC saw the gap close over the weekend and will be looking for three points against Houston Dynamo before Real Salt Lake host Minnesota United in a match which will currently be repeated in the postseason should the places remain the same.
Best of the Rest
Almost from nowhere the Philadelphia Union are only three points off the pace in the race for the Supporters’ Shield and they could have made those up by the time Los Angeles FC kick off as the Union host Atlanta United in the first game to kick off. The pick of the two matches on the evening see Toronto FC hosting Los Angeles Galaxy and Austin FC, themselves still relevant in the race for the Supporters’ Shield, taking on Portland Timbers. The champions New York City are on show on Wednesday evening too. They host rock bottom DC United while CF Montreal take on New York Red Bulls. The other match of interest sees Nashville SC hosting a Colorado Rapids who are in big danger of missing out on the postseason.
Betting
Two sides who don’t seem to do clean sheets at the minute meet on Wednesday evening when Columbus Crew play host to Inter Miami in a match where I’m expecting to see some goals because neither of these teams can just afford to play for a draw with a queue of sides looking to take their places in the top seven should either of them slip up in this match. That should make for a pretty exciting game, even more so when you consider the potential attacking talent on show in the match.
We have the likes of Cucho Hernandez, Lucas Zelarayan, Alejandro Pozuelo and Gonzalo Higuain all potentially on show in this match and they can open up defences on their own so the chances should come pretty regularly throughout the contest. Columbus Crew won this fixture 4-0 last season and although I don’t expect them to win as comfortably this time around I do expect Inter Miami to trouble the scorers. Crew have just two clean sheets in their last nine and Miami one in 14 so goals should flow at both ends here.
