Big Matches

This is another night where the leaders of both Conferences are in action with the Eastern Conference leaders FC Cincinnati having an away trip to Charlotte FC to negotiate. The leaders of the Western Conference also head onto their travels on Saturday evening when St Louis City SC cross the border to take on a troubled Toronto FC side. Elsewhere, there is a relatively local derby between New York Red Bulls and New England Revolution, while the champions Los Angeles FC will be looking to bounce back from their difficult defeat in ‘El Trafico’ in midweek when they host another California side in San Jose Earthquakes.

Best of the Rest

One of the other standout fixtures on the night is the one between the Vancouver Whitecaps and Seattle Sounders, which acts as the latest leg of the Cascadia Cup. LA Galaxy won that El Trafico earlier in the week and they will look to build on that when they go up against the Philadelphia Union while earlier in the evening new strikers will be present when Minnesota United host Austin FC and when Real Salt Lake take on Orlando City SC. Other appealing matches include Columbus Crew going up against New York City FC and Houston Dynamo taking on Sporting Kansas City.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of the evening with the first of them being on Columbus Crew to get the better of New York City FC. This is a tough assignment for the visiting team with them coming into the match off the back of a midweek game. Road trips in MLS are never the easiest at the best of times let alone with short preparation and recovery time. It doesn’t help that Columbus Crew are turning into a formidable force at home. They have lost just one game on home soil this term, which was what now looks like a bonkers defeat to Inter Miami. That match aside, the Crew are flying at home. They are the top scorers in the league with 42 goals overall, 29 of which have come here. Against a potentially weary NYCFC defence it would be a surprise if Columbus don’t get stuck in here and I expect them to have too much for a New York outfit whose win in Montreal in their last away game was the only one on their travels this season.

The other bet I like on Saturday evening comes from BMO Field where the troubles of Toronto FC are set to continue. They have been ordinary all season and that was never a good thing because they were always going to lose players to the Gold Cup for this month and those players are still missing. It doesn’t help that they will be without Federico Bernardeschi after his sending off in midweek. They looked an average side prior to that red card and the heat, humidity and intensity that game was played at are all negative factors here. They now host a St Louis City SC side who are gaining in confidence again after a tricky month towards the end of May and into June, one which has no weaknesses and who can be ruthless when they get in front. With a solid back line should Toronto muster something in attack and a vibrant forward line of their own, St Louis look everything that Toronto aren’t at the minute. I think that can be highlighted on the scoreboard at the end of this one and as such I like the visitors on the Asian lines here.

Back Columbus Crew to beat New York City FC for a 3/10 stake at 1.80 with BetVictor
