The first round of the MLS Cup Playoffs conclude in the MLS 2021 season on Tuesday night when the two remaining ties will be played one after the other. At the end of the night we will know the line up for the Conference semi-finals.
Both these matches are live on TV for us in the UK to enjoy with both the channels which covers the league showing both games. You will have to be something of a night owl to watch them though as they go deep into the early hours.
Nashville SC vs Orlando City SC (01.00 – Sky Football & Free Sports)
The match which comes from the Eastern Conference on Tuesday evening should in theory be the most one-sided of the three we have seen from this division so far as second placed Nashville SC host seventh placed Orlando City SC.
Orlando were involved in that crazy tie against New York City FC last season before losing to the New England Revolution. Nashville were beaten by the eventual champions Columbus Crew in the Conference semi-final but only one of these teams will reach that stage here. I’m hoping it is Nashville as they are my one remaining outright selection and given that they are extremely tough to beat I’m confidence they can send me one step closer to a winner. I don’t really want to get involved in anything here so I’ll sit and watch this one.

Seattle Sounders vs Real Salt Lake (03.30 – Sky Football & Free Sports)
The second match of the night is the last remaining game from this round in the Western Conference. That sees the team who lost in MLS Cup final last season in Seattle Sounders hosting Real Salt Lake at Lumen Field.
The Sounders tend to come alive at this stage of the season and with key attacking players returning in the last week or two of the regular campaign we shouldn’t be surprised were that to happen here too but they didn’t win any of their last six matches heading into the postseason and that is a real concern. Real Salt Lake will be buoyed by the fact they have already won one basically knockout match to seal their place in this match as they had to go to Sporting Kansas City and win else they would have been watching the postseason. They scored in the last minute of injury time to win that match so you sense they’ll be free rolling here.
I’m still not confident taking Real Salt Lake to win this match though so the bet I like is for over 2.75 goals. We’ve seen the first two matches in the Western Conference be relatively high scoring and I see no reason why this one won’t be either now that Seattle have their stars back. There is no shortage of goals in either of these two teams and I don’t think either defence is fantastic. I think there will be a few goals here.
