The second half of the Saturday double header in the penultimate week of the NFL season looks like being an absolute blockbuster as the Los Angeles Chargers play host to the Baltimore Ravens in a massive night for both teams.
The Chargers drew level with the Kansas City Chiefs when they beat Patrick Mahomes’ men last week and need two wins to try and force the division title. Baltimore currently trail in the wildcard race on countback and are half a match behind the Pittsburgh Steelers in the race for the AFC North title. Given all that, this is a match both need to win.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers should be buzzing going into this match after they touched off the Kansas City Chiefs last Thursday and having had a couple of extra days to recover and prepare for this match we should see the very best of them. They will certainly need their offense to stand up and deliver in this match as they are up against one of the best defences in the league.
Los Angeles can play with a little bit of freedom in this match as their season isn’t on the line. They will be in the playoffs whatever happens but if they want to keep their division hopes alive going into the final week of the campaign then they have to win. Their own defence could do with standing up and putting in a big show.
Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens go into this contest 8-6 for the season but they are behind Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts on their record in their division so they know they probably have to win out if they are going to force their way into the postseason. It isn’t beyond the realms of possibility that if they win their final two matches that they win the division and have home field advantage in the first week of the playoffs.
The key to that happening will be their offense and in particular Lamar Jackson. He has gone well since Joe Flacco got injured and brings a whole new dynamic to the attacking play of the Ravens. He is not under the sort of pressure that some quarterbacks are as if things don’t go to plan he can rely on one of the best defences in the league.

Betting
I think this has all the hallmarks of being a close match so I’m surprised that the Baltimore Ravens are getting a start as big as 4.5pts in this one. I wouldn’t actually be surprised if they go on and win the match because it probably does mean slightly more for them in that they are fighting for their season rather than their division.
Los Angeles Chargers were excellent against Kansas City last time out and they’ll be more than competitive here. They might well win but this feels like a field goal sort of match so I’ll take the Ravens with the start but wouldn’t not be surprised if they don’t need it.
