NFL 2018 – Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Preview

A huge day of action in the NFL finishes as always with the Sunday Night Football which this week sees one of the biggest rivalries in the league playing out when the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Baltimore Ravens at Heinz Field.

Baltimore have made a decent enough start to their campaign and can take the early initiative in the division while Pittsburgh are fighting hard just to keep onto the coattails of their bitter rivals. They will go above them with a win here however.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers picked up a much needed win against Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night but they will know they need to improve even on that performance because it wasn’t the most convincing. Their defensive numbers looked good with a bunch of interceptions but they still leaked a number of points which would have to be a concern.

Pittsburgh matches so far this season have turned into shootouts in the main. They have come out on top of one of them and lost another with a tie to open up the campaign. There is nothing wrong with their attacking play so if they can get some big stops going in their defence then there is no reason why the Steelers won’t be competitive for the remainder of the season.

Baltimore Ravens

When the Ravens opened up their season with a 47-3 win over the Buffalo Bills there was only really ever one way their campaign was going to go from there. They suffered the usual road trip Thursday night loss in their second match but rebounded in some style to overpower the Denver Broncos last weekend to put them 2-1 for the year heading into this match.

The Ravens defence has generally been as good as we would expect it to be apart from a few dodgy plays in the Cincinnati match but they were on the road on a Thursday night in that game and I always think there is an excuse level there. We know the Ravens will come to play in this match, they always do.

Betting

We don’t truly know what to expect from the Pittsburgh Steelers in terms of their offense against this Baltimore Ravens defence so I’m reluctant to get involved in the match outcome or anything that involves both sides needing to deliver the goods for our bet to land. There is one that I like though.

That is for Baltimore Ravens to score more than 23.5pts. They have done it in two of their three matches so far and scored exactly 23 when they went to Cincinnati in week two. Pittsburgh have shipped 21pts to the Cleveland Browns which would have been more if Cleveland’s kicker held his nerve and then 42 to Kansas City and 27 to Tampa Bay last week. Flacco has plenty more receivers to go to this year and Alex Collins looks in good touch so I’m expecting the Ravens to move the ball around freely. I don’t think 24pts is beyond them.
