The penultimate Sunday Night Football of the season is another huge game of football in what has been a huge day of action in the NFL. It comes from CenturyLink Field as the Seattle Seahawks play host to the Kansas City Chiefs in a season defining night for both.
The Seahawks need to win to keep their playoff hopes in their own hands heading into next week while the Chiefs will secure the number one spot in the AFC with a victory here so there is plenty on the line.
Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks go into the match off the back of a tough loss in San Francisco last week so they will know they are unable to afford another defeat here. If they are beaten here they will need results to go in their favour next week for them to have the chance to regain their title in the postseason. They won’t want that to be the scenario though so this is almost must-win for Russell Wilson and his side.
The Seattle defence is likely to be tested in this match so they will need to be at their very best but Wilson needs to come to the party as well and lead his offense down the field. They will get chances to make plays and need to make sure they take full advantage of every one. The Seahawks might need to be prepared to be involved in a shootout.
Kansas City Chiefs
In many ways the Chiefs have a free shot at this one. Even if they won’t win here they will win the division and claim the number one seed with a win next week so they can approach this with a bit of freedom and look to get the job done at the first opportunity. A win here will cap off a wonderful regular season for Patrick Mahomes in his first full season as a starter.
The questions will then begin over whether the Chiefs are a potential playoff winning team. Usually defences get sides over the line in January and there are massive question marks over the quality of this Kansas City defence. If they can show their worth then we could very well be looking at a Super Bowl side, assuming they win one of their last two regular season matches.

Betting
Given what is on this match I think the point line is a little high at 56. I accept this might turn into a shootout given that both sides will be eager to win but to my eye the best chance Seattle Seahawks have of winning will be to control the clock with the running game and look to produce lengthy drives and keep the ball out of Patrick Mahomes’ hands.
On the road at CenturyLink Field, the Kansas City Chiefs might not have it all their own way on offense anyway and I certainly expect the Seahawks’ defence to stand up and be counted in this match. There is enough wiggle room in a line of 56 for it to be a good game with a few lead changes and not to go over that number so it is the under for me.
