NFL 2019 – Week 5 Sunday Early Games Tips and Betting Preview

While the initial focus for those of us in the UK will be on the first London game of the season, the rest of the NFL Sunday offers up some decent fayre with plenty at stake as we head into the second quarter of the campaign.

We know the match at Tottenham will form the first TV game but there is another for us to enjoy after that as well as the usual ways of keeping up to date on what should be another exciting Sunday in the NFL.

1pm Kick Offs (6pm UK time)

We already know the TV game in this first slot of matches but we have a couple of divisional games in here as well. One of those comes from Heinz Field where the Pittsburgh Steelers take on bitter rivals Baltimore Ravens while over in the NFC South the New Orleans Saints take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who will be looking to back up their high scoring win from last weekend.

There are a stack of other games in this kick off slot with the Tennessee Titans hosting the Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles take on the New York Jets, New England Patriots head to the capital to take on the Washington Redskins, New York Giants play host to the Minnesota Vikings and the Houston Texans faces off against the Atlanta Falcons. Two sides without a win between them meet when the Cincinnati Bengals face the Arizona Cardinals and the other match sees the Carolina Panthers hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars.

4.05/4.25pm Kick Offs (9.05/9.25pm UK time)

We only have the two matches in the second slot on the day on Sunday and the TV match sees two sides who are 3-1 for the season battling it out in what could yet be a key match in the NFC as the Green Bay Packers head to Texas to take on the Dallas Cowboys. The other match comes down in the AFC West where the Los Angeles Chargers will look to build on their 2-2 record when they host the 0-4 Denver Broncos in a match they home side really need to win.

Betting

I’ll take on a couple of bets over the course of the night in these matches and I’ll get going in Cincinnati where the Cincinnati Bengals did absolutely nothing to impress me against the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. Admittedly they should have it easier against a much weaker Arizona Cardinals defence but I’m still not convinced by the Bengals at all. Cardinals have been inconsistent this season but at the same time when they have put it together they look alright. Cincinnati got gashed by the run last week and David Johnson can feast on that this week. I’ll take the Cards in the battle of the winless sides.

Over in Dallas, I expect defences to have a decent game when the Dallas Cowboys take on the Green Bay Packers. Green Bay’s defence let them down a little bit last week but in the main it has been solid while their offense still isn’t pulling up any trees and could really struggle against this competent Dallas D which has just pretty much shut down the New Orleans Saints. We saw in that match that their offense can be stifled though and if that is the case here, and Green Bay have shown signs that they can do it, then this one could be more attrition based than the point line suggests. I’ll go under 47.5pts.
