NFL 2020 – Week 16 Sunday Early Games Tips and Betting Preview

We have already had four matches in the penultimate round of the NFL regular season but the majority of them come along in the usual early Sunday slots when there are another 10 games due to be played.

As ever on an NFL Sunday two of these earlier matches are live on TV for us in the UK while you can watch the others via the streams at the various bookmakers. There is also the big play option on the RedZone programme so there is no need to miss any of the key action.

1pm Kick Offs (6pm UK time)

The televised match in the first kick off slot on Sunday sees two of the best in the AFC going at it when the Pittsburgh Steelers play host to the Indianapolis Colts in a match which could very well take place again when the postseason comes around. The Colts need to win this to keep up the heat on the Titans for the AFC South title while the Steelers want the victory to strengthen their seeding for the play-offs when they begin in a couple of weeks.

There are five other matches in this kick off slot with the seemingly runaway leaders of the AFC in the Kansas City Chiefs involved in one of them. They host the Atlanta Falcons while the Baltimore Ravens welcome the New York Giants in a match which is must win for both of them as far as their play-off hopes are concerned. The Houston Texans take on the Cincinnati Bengals while the Jacksonville Jaguars meet the Chicago Bears. The other match sees the New York Jets looking to build on last week’s win when they host the Cleveland Browns who have a bit of an issue in the wide receiver department after suffering Covid-19 issues.

4.05/4.25pm Kick Offs (9.05/9.25pm UK time)

There is a huge clash in the NFC West that forms the TV match in the second slot on Sunday evening as the Seattle Seahawks host the Los Angeles Rams in a match where the home side will win the division if they come out on top in it. A Rams win takes them to the top of the division with one game left of the regular season so this is one of the biggest matches of the campaign so far and will be fiercely competitive.

There are three other games in the later slot with two of them being divisional matches as the Dallas Cowboys host the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East while over in the AFC West the Los Angeles Chargers welcome the Denver Broncos in one of the lower important matches between the two. The other match sees the Washington Football Team aiming to keep their stranglehold on the NFC East title when they host the Carolina Panthers who are just playing out time.

Betting

Things have gone very pear-shaped for the Pittsburgh Steelers in recent weeks which is less than ideal for them when they are preparing for a run in the play-offs. They now host an Indianapolis Colts side who have won five of their last six matches and are looking like they are charging into the postseason. The Steelers go into this one off the back of a three game losing streak and while the loss to Washington wasn’t ideal and to the Bills was acceptable, the defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals is very much a warning sign and a cause for concern. The Colts defence has generally been decent enough throughout the season but there have been signs in recent weeks that their offense is really coming to the party. I think the Colts are a bit of value with the way the two teams have played over the last few weeks.

Two good defences do battle in the second of the TV matches on Sunday evening when the Seattle Seahawks host the Los Angeles Rams. That is likely to mean this is a lower scoring match but when you add what is on the line and how important the match is in terms of the fortunes of both teams moving forward you have to think this will be even more competitive and hard fought. Both teams will just want the win here. It isn’t about looking good or putting on a show or anything like that. The win is everything in this match so I expect a lot of running down the clock and fierce defensive play in a contest which can stay well below the 47.5pt mark.
