The second of the two London games in the NFL 2021 season takes place on Sunday when the Jacksonville Jaguars bring another home game to the English capital. This time they take on the Miami Dolphins at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
These two teams have played 10 matches between them this season and have one win to their name collectively so it goes without saying that they will both be hoping a change of scenery brings about an improvement in their form.
Jacksonville Jaguars
We keep waiting for the Jacksonville Jaguars to come to the party. They have collected a huge amount of draft picks over the last few seasons but there is seemingly little to no sign of an improvement. Even claiming a new franchise quarterback with the number one pick in this year’s draft hasn’t brought about an upturn in fortunes. Things look a bit of a mess on and off the field for the Jaguars are present with one impacting heavily on the other.
The Jaguars head to London having lost their last 20 NFL matches which is an absolutely ridiculous record. No rookie quarterback has ever won in London of the five previous ones to have tried it so if Trevor Lawrence is going to get his first NFL win then he is going to have to defy history. If the Jags offense can put some plays on the board and play a clean game they will at least give themselves a chance against a team whose confidence can’t be up to much.

Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins edged out the New England Patriots in the opening week of the season but since then things have gone a bit sour. To be fair to them, they weren’t overly convincing in that victory but at least they do have a win to show for their efforts this season. The four defeats since then have been pretty emphatic but to be fair to the Dolphins, only one of those sides have a losing record and two of the teams who have beaten them could well be contesting the Super Bowl later in the year.
It isn’t so much that the Dolphins have lost those matches, it is more the way they have lost them. They were nilled by the Buffalo Bills and in all four matches their offense has flattered to deceive. They get quarterback Tua Tagovailoa back for this match but in all truth it remains to be seen whether that is a good thing or not. Defensively the Dolphins have been a bit of a mess and that is perhaps the biggest surprise about their season so far.
Betting
There is way too many questions about both of these sides for me to get involved in the match betting in this match. How do you favour one side or the other in a contest where the two combatants have one win in 10 outings between them? These are two bad teams and I don’t want any of my hard earned anywhere near either of them so I’m going to head down to the player markets for a punt on this London outing.
Often in these higher profile matches big players stand out. If we go back to last week Matty Ryan shone bright and it might well be that the best player on the field here is James Robinson, the Jacksonville Jaguars running back, who goes up against a Miami run defence which has already seen three running backs to go for more than 100 yards against them this season, even though they haven’t come up against a run first offense yet. I fancy Robinson to be the Jaguars’ main man here but rather than risk his rushing yards only to see Miami get out on top and the Jaguars have to abandon the run, I’ll take the running back to go in for a touchdown, something he has done in the last three matches, at a tasty 6/5.
