The AFC South title will be won in the second part of the NFL 2022 double header on Saturday night when the Jacksonville Jaguars play host to the Tennessee Titans with the winners taking the title and sealing the home game next week.
It is a simple equation for these two teams. Win and you are in or lose and you will be watching the playoffs from the couch so this is very much one of the biggest games of the week, if not the season so far.
Jacksonville Jaguars
If form and momentum is anything to go by then the Jacksonville Jaguars should be feeling good about themselves in this match. They have won their last four matches and look to be coming home with a wet sail this season. While you could question what they have faced in their last two matches, they have restricted both the New York Jets and the Houston Texans to a field goal each so defensively they look in good form right now.
The offense has been up and down this season but in the second part of the year Trevor Lawrence has shown why he was taken so high in the draft in 2021 and you get the impression that confidence has never been as high within the Jacksonville ranks as it is right now. If their defence continues to deliver the goods then you would imagine they will find enough on offense against a Titans side who are really struggling defensively.

Tennessee Titans
At the halfway mark in the campaign the Tennessee Titans looked to be cruising towards the AFC South title but they have hit a wall in a big way in the second part of the season and now have to win on the road in order to win the division and seal a spot in the playoffs. There is no wildcard up for grabs from this division so Tennessee have to win to extend their year. The positive is that if they are able to do it then it will serve them well should they go deeper into the postseason and have to go on the road.
The Titans have lost their last six matches so it would appear as though their race is run for this season, not helped by the injuries they have picked up over that time. To be fair, they knew last week didn’t matter to them and rested a number of players who might be useful to them here, not least Derrick Henry who has been activated off the injury list for this game but they remain without starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill so Joshua Dobbs will be the starter for the second week in a row.
Betting
When you consider that the Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Tennessee Titans four weeks ago before the Titans slump really kicked in it is hard to go against the home side here. The Titans do have Derrick Henry on their side but the Jaguars are decent against the run and can probably bring an extra tackler into the box with the knowledge that Joshua Dobbs is unlikely to kill them in the passing game. The other thing the Titans have going for them is that they have played in big matches over the past few seasons but there is no getting away from their injuries or their troubles.
Among those troubles is their secondary which coughs up yards and points and a confident Trevor Lawrence is going to be hard to contain with the receiving options he has available to him. The other thing the Jaguars are doing is getting better on defence seemingly by the week. If the Jags offensive line can keep Lawrence protected well enough we should see Jacksonville continue their confident play and they can be a touchdown too good for a Tennessee team who have too many issues on both sides of the ball. This is all about Jacksonville for me and I’ll take them to win.
