The London games might have finished in the NFL 2023 season but the international action keeps on coming as Frankfurt in Germany opens up the Sunday action when the Kansas City Chiefs host the Miami Dolphins in a tasty starter.
This could very well be a rehearsal for the AFC Championship match later in the season given the way these two teams have started and with two of the most powerful offenses in the league we should be in for a cracker.
Where to watch
The match will be shown live and in full on the Sky Sports NFL channel with the build-up in Germany beginning at 1.30pm UK time with the kick off taking place an hour later.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs head out to Germany with a 6-2 record for the season with their losses coming in their first match of the campaign and their latest one. I don’t think too many people were too concerned over the loss to the Detroit Lions on the opening night of the season given that Travis Kelce was banged up for that game but the defeat to the Denver Broncos last week would have raised one or two concerns, largely due to how tame it was.
The Chiefs didn’t score a single touchdown last week and never registered a point in the second half of the game and that is very much unlike them. Good teams bounce back from poor displays so it might be no bad thing that Kansas City have a platform like this one to perform on. They certainly have some stud offensive players who should relish the stage they have here. Defensively the Chiefs have been fine. Last week was the first time in the eight matches they have conceded more than 20 points.

Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins are also 6-2 for the season so the winner of this one will rival the Baltimore Ravens for the top spot in the AFC at present. The concern for the Dolphins is that their two defeats have come in road matches to powerful offenses such as the Buffalo Bills and the Philadelphia Eagles and now they go on an even longer trip to take on arguably the most vibrant offense of the lot when it all clicks, so Miami need to be on their game.
The Dolphins do take the best passing game in the league to Germany with them though and that is enough to put pressure on any defence. Tua Tagovailoa has 85 more passing yards than any other quarterback in the league and former Chief, Tyreeq Hill has 75 more receiving yards than anyone else. If Miami can get this into a shootout then these two men could be key. They might have to win a shootout though because Buffalo put 48 points up on them and Philadelphia scored 31 against them.
Betting
You can certainly make a case for the Kansas City Chiefs offense not firing like we would expect it to this season but teams generally raise it for the big stage and a match in Germany where the onus is on promoting the game is very much the sort of occasion where I would expect that offense to come to the party. If that isn’t enough then this Miami defence, which is nothing like as good on the road, should enable the Chiefs to come to the party.
We know the Miami offense is in good order. They can get it done through the air and on the ground and generally when they win their matches are shootouts. With all that in mind, I’m a little surprised that the point line for this match is 49.5 but I am happy to be on the over. We generally see these international games allow the offenses to flow and put on a show and at their best there aren’t many better to do that than these two.
