The triple header in the NFL 2024 season on Saturday night concludes in the NFC West where the Los Angeles Rams will look to sew up the division title when they go up against the Arizona Cardinals in a division clash.
The Cardinals have been reduced to the role of party poopers after a poor run of form while the Rams have the first of two chances to get the NFC West title won. If they lose here they face a winner takes all clash with the Seattle Seahawks next week.
Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams took a while to come to the boil this term but when they did they have breezed past the rest in the NFC West and are now warm favourites to get the job done from here on in and set up what looks like being a tasty home clash with the Green Bay Packers. It was only four weeks ago that the Rams were 5-6 for their year and in a real tussle to break out in the division but four wins on the spin have now put them in a position where they are in control of their own destiny.
The Rams offense has largely been potent when the services of Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua have been available, although they have been able to put up just 31 points in total in their last two matches. They will need to get back to being that powerful offense if they are firstly going to reach the postseason and then do anything when they get there but Arizona might just present the ideal opposition to get back into a groove against.

Arizona Cardinals
For a lot of the early part of the season it looked like the Arizona Cardinals would be the champions in the NFC West but as we got deeper into the second half of the campaign it became evident that they were sitting ducks for the better teams. They probably aren’t a million miles away from being really competitive in the race for that division titles but they might just feel that this is one that got away with he San Francisco 49ers really struggling this term.
The Cardinals defence was in decent enough order earlier in the season but the team have lost four of their last five matches and that defence gave up 36 points to the Carolina Panthers last week which doesn’t look good for it. Generally over that run the offense has stuttered. They haven’t scored more than 30 points in any of those games and it is probably that side of the ball under Kyler Murray which is going to need to turn the corner if they are to win here.
Betting
I think this match is all about the Los Angeles Rams. They are the ones playing for something but they know that even if this goes west they have a home game against the Seattle Seahawks next week which would see them win the division were they to win that so they can attack this one under a little less pressure than they might otherwise have been. I can’t get past the fact that the Carolina Panthers just put 36 points up on this Arizona defence last week.
That defence is banged up a little to be fair so I think this is the ideal chance for the Los Angeles offense to find its feet again and get back to big scoring ways. They should be able to have their own way with this defence through the air and on the ground and as a result I’m a little surprised that we can get even money on the Rams scoring over 27.5 points. Four touchdowns shouldn’t be beyond the Rams when we consider that in their last home game Los Angeles put up 44 points on the Buffalo Bills. I’ll take the Rams to get to 28 here.
