NFL – Sunday Night Football: Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans Betting Preview

The final match of the sixth Sunday of the NFL season comes from the NRG Stadium as the Houston Texans host the Indianapolis Colts in an all-AFC South battle which could have big implications on the division as a whole.

Whoever wins this match will go top of the division but having already lost to the Jaguars it might well be a bigger match for the Colts than the Texans although the Houston fans making their way to the game won’t agree with that.

Houston Texans

Houston go into the game with a 3-2 record for the season but they are far from the finished article despite winning this division last season. Their weakness is without doubt their offense. Nearly every statistic that is recorded has them at the wrong end of things with Brock Osweiler proving a bit of a turnover machine which isn’t ideal given the cash Houston forked out on him.

Despite the season ending injury to star defensive player JJ Watt, the Texans defence has kept on delivering and if the offense doesn’t fire it might need to. Will Fuller, the first round rookie draft pick at wide receiver, has been making plays recently but he is questionable for this match which adds extra to the defence.

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts have been involved in some thrilling matches this season with four of their five games thus far being decided by fewer than seven points. They have got over the line in a couple of those and lost a couple of them so consistency has been an issue for them.

That isn’t too much of a surprise because Andrew Luck is getting no protection and there is only so much he can do on his own without the help of those around him. Perhaps it was important that he had a good connection with TY Hilton last week and if those two can combine again this week the Colts could get the win they seek.

Betting

We have two inconsistent teams in action here but the shape of the division and the impact this match will have on that makes this one interesting. You would be a confident person if you could actively predict the outcome of any match involving these two before the off but often when bad or inconsistent sides meet the match will be determined on the quarterback battle.

There is no doubt in my mind that despite not getting a lot of protection Andrew Luck is the better playmaker of these two and he might just have the game changing or match winning play in his locker. Indianapolis Colts have a good record over this opponent while Luck brings out his best against them and at odds against I’ll take the visitors to win here.
