The last round of Premier League matches prior to the next international break begins on Saturday afternoon when six more fixtures take place up and down the country on a day where we might get more of a picture of who will and won’t be competitive this term.
As ever on a Saturday we have two matches to enjoy on the TV in the UK and then there are all the usual ways of following what is just four games in the traditional 3pm time slot so there is no need to miss out on following a punt.
Early Kick Off
The action on Saturday gets going at Old Trafford where all eyes will be on Manchester United and their manager in particular to see if he can lead them to three points to make up for the defeat to Aston Villa last week. The Red Devils welcome a confident Everton to Cheshire with the Toffees having got off to a quick start this term. Whoever wins this one will go top of the table for a few hours so there is a decent incentive for the pair to come away with all three points.
3pm Matches
There are only four matches in the usual 3pm time slot on Saturday with so many teams having been in Europe on Thursday and having their game held over to Sunday. Chelsea are the highest ranked team on show in these matches. The Blues play host to a Southampton side who are still searching for their first win of the season. Leeds United are probably the most entertaining team in action on Saturday afternoon. They are also looking to pick up three points for the first time this term and they will hope they come against Watford, who have started better than they were expected.
The other two matches might be billed as relegation clashes were they to be later in the season. Burnley really need to get results to go on top of performances which probably haven’t been rewarded in the way they should have been to date. The host Norwich City who are completely pointless so far this term. The other match sees Wolverhampton Wanderers looking to build on their win over Southampton last weekend when they host Newcastle United at Molineux.

Late Game
It might be that the best match of the lot is the one which is saved for last as high flying Brighton and Hove Albion host Arsenal. There is still a chance if Manchester United and Everton draw and Chelsea fail to beat Southampton that Brighton could move to the top of the Premier League table. Arsenal look to have found some form in recent times though and they’ll be out to extend their winning run to four matches and lift themselves nicely into the top half so both teams should be going for it at the Amex Stadium.
Betting
I’m not sure I would offer Burnley as value to beat Norwich at 10/11 but you can’t spend value and you can spend cold hard cash and I expect the Clarets to win us some of it. These are the bottom two in the table but I think Burnley have been better than their league position suggests. I’m far from convinced that is the case with Norwich City, who already look like they might as well prepare to get back out of the Championship next season.
Although Burnley only have two draws to account from their opening six matches, they have actually led in four of those outings and if you look at their last three in particular they were ahead of Everton in the second half until an inspired seven minute burst from the home side, ran into a goalkeeper in fine form in a narrow loss to Arsenal and gave Leicester City as good as they got if not more last week. Norwich look terrible in both boxes. They have only scored twice and already look a little lost without Emi Buendia and have shipped 16 goals and are leaking for fun. As long as expectation doesn’t grip Burnley and they maintain their recent performance levels I expect them to win this.
Tips
Back Burnley to beat Norwich City for a 3/10 stake at 1.91 with William Hill
