The rushed schedule of the Premier League at the minute continues on Saturday when another round of fixtures get underway. We have five matches on a truncated day of action to enjoy and get stuck into.
As with last week, despite a shortage of matches on Saturday there are the usual two televised games and then the other three fixtures all have the usual ways of being kept on top of throughout the course of the afternoon.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (3pm unless stated; UK TV in brackets)
West Ham United vs Chelsea (12.30pm – BT Sport 1)
Newcastle United vs Burnley
Southampton vs Brighton and Hove Albion
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Liverpool
Watford vs Manchester City (5.30pm – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

The action begins in the capital where the league leaders Chelsea will once again look to highlight their title credentials. They face off against rivals West Ham United who could do with a positive result to get their form back on track after a couple of indifferent outcomes. The televised action concludes in the capital too where the champions Manchester City will look to remind Chelsea that they are going nowhere in the race for the title when they head to Vicarage Road to take on a Watford team who are performing better than their results suggest.
The other three matches all come in the traditional kick off slot at 3pm on Saturday with the biggest one being the one between two sides in the bottom three in the table meet at St James’ Park when Newcastle United go in search of an opening win of the season when they welcome Burnley to the Toon. Liverpool will look to keep up the pressure on the two sides above them in the table when they head to Molineux to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers. The other match sees two sides who could do with a win taking each other on when Southampton host Brighton and Hove Albion.
Betting
There isn’t a huge amount that I like over the course of the day. I think the better bets are going to come over the remainder of the weekend but the odds on Liverpool to win to nil is a little on the high side. Wolverhampton Wanderers started this season finding it hard to put the ball in the back of the net and that trend appears to have come along again as they have scored just once in their last four matches, and with no disrespect to Crystal Palace, West Ham, Burnley and Norwich, none of them are Liverpool.
Wolves are actually the second lowest scorers in the Premier League this term with just Norwich having fewer to their name so there has to be a good chance that should Liverpool win this they do so to nil. To be fair to Wolves, while they struggle to put the ball in the back of the net, they don’t see too many go in their own net with only the top two conceding fewer goals than them this season so it isn’t a foregone conclusion that the visitors win this game but with the form that Mo Salah is in and the returning Diogo Jota likely to be up for this one I expect Liverpool to find the net and that can be enough.
