The Premier League returns from the international break on Saturday and it does so with a seven-match card which might just be the most important of the season so far as the race for the title and battle to avoid the drop intensifies.
As ever on a Saturday we begin and we finish with a TV match and then in between all of that there are matches at the traditional time which still require updates from the usual places be it on TV or social media.
Early Kick Off
We come back from the international break with a massive showdown as Manchester City look to maintain their title hopes when they entertain a Liverpool side who have been their closest challengers over the last few seasons. Liverpool won’t be winning the title this season but they will need the points as they chase down a place in the Champions League next term. You’d have to think that anything but a City win gives Arsenal the title so there is an awful lot riding on this one at the Etihad Stadium.
3pm Matches
Five matches take place in the traditional 3pm slot where surprisingly we have the current Premier League pacesetters in action when Arsenal reply to whatever Manchester City do when they entertain Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium. Two sides chasing top six spots and a place in Europe next term meet at the Amex Stadium when a confident Brighton side will look to celebrate reaching Wembley in the FA Cup when they host a Brentford side who have done very well themselves this season.
At the other end of the table there are two key fixtures taking place. I would imagine most still think Crystal Palace and Leicester City will be safe this season but the pressure will begin to intensify on whoever loses their clash at Selhurst Park, while Nottingham Forest host Wolverhampton Wanderers in a clash which neither team will want to lose either. The other match sees Fulham suffering the fallout from their FA Cup exit prior to the international break when they head to the Vitality Stadium to face AFC Bournemouth, who themselves need the points to come away from the drop zone.

Late Game
We get to see how Chelsea come out of the international break in the late game. Graham Potter looked to be finally turning the corner in charge of the Blues prior to the stoppage in the season and he will be hoping his team pick up where they left off when they entertain an Aston Villa team who themselves probably didn’t want the break to come given the form they were in. A place in the top half of the table is the reward for the winner at Stamford Bridge.
Betting
I’ll go with the one bet which comes down at the Amex Stadium where I am sure the owners of both Brighton and Hove Albion and Brentford will have drummed into their players how much each of them want to get the better of the other after their infamous falling out. The two men were once friends and colleagues in the gambling setup of Tony Bloom but now they are arch enemies and a win in this match will very much please the owner who gets it.
We might well see both teams straining an extra sinew in this one, not just for their owners but actually because they are battling it out for a place in Europe next season and you would think only one of them will get it. There is no shortage of attacking talent on the pitch here and while the two defences can be hard to break down, the fact both sides use every inch of the width of the pitch and have supporting midfielders to exploit places I think the 5/6 on both teams finding the net is a more than fair price.
