The second weekend of the new Premier League season continues on Sunday when four sides are back in action looking to either build on a win on the opening day or recover from disappointing defeats.
Both matches are live on TV for us in the UK to enjoy and it should be a decent afternoon of action with the second match between two teams with top four aspirations and more while there is a home Premier League return in the other.
Nottingham Forest vs West Ham United (14.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
The opening match of the afternoon sees Nottingham Forest playing a home match in the Premier League for the first time this century. West Ham United are the visitors to the City Ground for what should be quite an occasion.
Both these teams were beaten last weekend so there will be an intent on getting something from this match. Forest will be roared on by a special atmosphere and they might be getting the Hammers at the right time with West Ham short of centre-backs for this one and their first-choice goalkeeper is a doubt too. Forest also have one or two issues defensively so even though it is going to be sweltering in the east midlands I think we might see the attacking players dominating the game. I’m always reluctant to back goals early in the season but Forest will give this a good go while West Ham have a lot more options going forward these days. I think over 2.5 goals can land here.

Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur (16.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
The second match of the afternoon is the first real heavyweight clash of the season as the London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur meet at Stamford Bridge with both having an opportunity to lay a bit of a marker down.
There wasn’t much in the way of optimism around Chelsea in the lead up to the campaign with transfer activity very light but they are beginning to work the squad how Thomas Tuchel wants it and have the chance to show that they are going to be leading players this term. Tottenham on the other hand went into the season with plenty of expectation on their shoulders and although they justified that with a demolition of Southampton last week, this is a much more difficult task for them and if Spurs can come out on top here it was send out a major statement that they will be contenders this season. I’m happy to watch and see how these two match up against each other rather than bet with the doubts still relevant around Chelsea.
