Premier League 2022-23 – Thursday 20th October Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The midweek action in the Premier League concludes with two final matches on Thursday evening when four sides look to pick up the three points which will improve their league position and send them into the weekend feeling confident.

Both the matches are live to be streamed for those who have an Amazon Prime Video subscription. Their coverage is very good and if you have two devices you won’t need to miss a minute of the action.

Fulham vs Aston Villa (19.30)

The action begins at Craven Cottage where Fulham will go in search of another Premier League win when they welcome under pressure Aston Villa to the capital in what could be a key clash for both sides in their campaign.

Fulham started the season well but are without a win in three matches and will be looking to put an end to that run here to avoid it becoming an issue and they slide down the table. Villa head to the Cottage having won just one of their last eight matches and there was little that was convincing about that. They are in desperate need of not just a win but a performance too because Villa fans are understandably not impressed and you get the feeling they are only going to put up with it for so much longer before they really turn on Steven Gerrard. Villa are yet to win on their travels and although they have drawn their last two, drawing with 10-man Leeds and Nottingham Forest aren’t great form guides. Fulham have generally been good at home this season. Their only defeat came against Newcastle where if it could go wrong it did do. Unlike Villa they are not struggling to score goals but keeping them out is a serious issue. They have conceded 20 goals in 10 matches and have leaked two or more in eight of those 20 outings. To be fair to Villa, they gave a much improved offensive display against Chelsea at the weekend but ran into a monster performance by Kepa in goal. If they perform like that you’ve got to think they’ll score in this one. Fulham will get enough men forward to put the Villa defence under pressure so I like over 2.5 goals in this game particularly given that both will want to win this.

Leicester City vs Leeds United (20.15)

The final match of the midweek round of games to kick off comes from the King Power Stadium where Leicester City will look to inject life into their season when they welcome Leeds United, who themselves could do with a victory here.

I keep on thinking that at some point Leicester will turn their season around and whenever there are shoots of life they shoot themselves down again. I’m not so sure I fancy them here though because they are missing player of the season so far James Maddison. In saying that, I’m not sure I have much more faith in Leeds United delivering the goods because for all the chances they are capable of creating they lack a killer instinct in front of goal and there is still something deep in my mind somewhere that still thinks Leicester will come good. If they do that here then it might be through Harvey Barnes, who seems to have a personal vendetta against the Yorkshire outfit as he has played against them four times in his Leicester career and scored against them on every occasion. With Maddison out he could see even more of the ball and at 3/1 the price on him to score anytime in this contest is too big to ignore.
