The midweek action in the Premier League continues on Wednesday evening when another five matches take place up and down the country as the quest for points early in the season goes on for the 10 teams involved.
As was the case on Tuesday evening, all five matches can be seen live on the TV in the UK but once again they all clash kick off times so you’ll need plenty of devices if your aim is to watch all five at the same time!

The top two from last season are both on show over the course of Wednesday evening looking to back up their emphatic wins at the weekend. Manchester City are the first of the two to kick off and they welcome newly promoted Nottingham Forest to the Etihad Stadium with the visitors potentially on a hiding to nothing there. The last game to kick off sees Liverpool aiming to follow up their 9-0 demolition of Bournemouth when they welcome a competitive Newcastle United to Anfield in what is one of the iconic fixtures in a Premier League season after those epic battles between the two in the 90s.
Neither of the big two are top of the table though. That honour falls to Arsenal and they will be out to show everyone just why they sit on the summit when they welcome a struggling Aston Villa to the Emirates Stadium. There barely seems a Premier League card that goes by without a London derby and this one doesn’t either as West Ham United welcome rivals Tottenham Hotspur. The other match sees two of the strugglers in the early standings meeting when Bournemouth begin life without Scott Parker when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers.

There is no ignoring the fine start to the season that Arsenal have made and while their doubters will point out they haven’t faced anything special just yet, they don’t fancy anything special on Wednesday evening when Aston Villa come to town either. Arsenal have won their opening four matches but it is the amount of chances they are creating which has really caught the eye. Their lowest xG this season is 1.49 which was away at Crystal Palace which is a tough place to go. I expect them to continue that against a Villa side who are poor defensively.
Villa have won one of their opening four matches, and they fell over the line against Everton in that, but away from home they have lost easily to Bournemouth and Crystal Palace. Villa won the xG at Bournemouth but it was only 0.69-0.57 in their favour in a 2-0 loss. At Palace they were well beaten 3-1 and 2.93-1.00 on the xG battle. West Ham went to Villa Park without a goal to their name on Sunday and won and all of a sudden even with a CEO who thinks the sun shines out of his arse Steven Gerrard has to be walking on thin ice after the summer of investment the Villans went through. This game comes at a bad time for Villa. Arsenal have been relentless at home over the last 15 months or so and can win this one with a bit in hand too.
