The Premier League returns from the international break on Saturday and it does so with some of the bigger matches of the season. In all there are eight matches across the three kick off times on Saturday and at the end of it we might get a much clearer picture of things at either end of the table.
Early Kick Off
Unless you’ve been in a bunker for the last week or two you will know it is Manchester United against Arsenal to get us underway which means it is Jose Mourinho against Arsene Wenger once again.
Arsenal will move to the top of the table were they to bag the points while United will get themselves back in the mix if they pick up the win so there is plenty at stake right from the start of the day.
3pm Matches
Manchester City will be hoping to capitalise on any slip ups around them when they head to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace. Everton host Swansea at Goodison Park while the leaders Liverpool head down to take on the club who is something of a feeder to them in the form of Southampton.
At the other end of the table Stoke welcome Bournemouth to the Britannia while two of the bottom three meet at the Stadium of Light when Sunderland play host to Hull. The other match sees the defending champions Leicester heading to Vicarage Road to face top half Watford.
Late Game
It is back to London for the late game as fierce rivals Tottenham and West Ham battle it out at White Hart Lane. Both sides are lower in the table than they would have wanted at this stage of the season so the points will be desperately sought after in that one.
Betting
I’m leaving the early game alone. That’s been hyped up to the hilt and the last time a Manchester United game got that billing they bored the tits off everyone and I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if they do that here so my bets are coming from the 3pm matches.
At Selhurst Park I’m expecting to see goals between a Crystal Palace side who can’t really defend but attack with plenty of quality and a Manchester City side of which the same description can be laid at their door. The goal line in this match is exactly three goals but I don’t think that is out of reach, indeed both could cover that on their own so I like the overs there.
I was intrigued to hear Ronald Koeman say that Romelu Lukaku has to leave Goodison Park to fulfil his potential and I just wonder if he has said that to give the Belgian forward a kick up the arse and make him work harder and stand out like he should. If that has had that effect then Everton could be very strong against a weak Swansea side for whom the issues are rising quickly. Even if Lukaku doesn’t offer what he can I think Everton will be too good here.
