The Ram Slam T20 continues on Sunday with all six sides in action on another busy day of action in the South African domestic competition.
There is a double header in Centurion where the Cape Cobras take on the Dolphins in the opening match of the day before the Titans go up against the Warriors in the later match. In between that the Knights go up against the Lions in Bloemfontein.
The first match of the day should be an absolute pearler. The Dolphins are leading the way in the table at the minute, helped by the insane runs coming from Kevin Pietersen’s bat while the Cobras are the defending champions who will be looking for a win to push for the chance to finish top of the table.
Initially I was considering taking the Dolphins here but now that Kyle Abbott has been called up to the South Africa Test squad I’m a little more reluctant to get involved in them. Instead given the power they showed with the bat in their last match I’m happy to get stuck into the sixes.
With Rory Kleinveldt and Kieron Pollard back in the ranks of the Cobras they don’t lack for hitters and the Dolphins certainly don’t with the likes of Kevin Pietersen, Dwayne Bravo, David Miller and Morne van Wyk all batting strongly for them.
With this match at Centurion where the ball flies further I’m expecting to see another high scoring match here and one where the sixes flow regularly.
In the second match I’m going to chance the Knights to beat the Lions. The Lions have stopped performing with the bat and that isn’t good in this format. There are only so many times their bowlers can get them out of the mess.
The Knights must start out in this match wondering how they are still looking for their first win of the season. Twice they have gone down narrowly – by one run against the Titans last time out and in a super over against the Warriors at the start of the tournament.
With the Lions unlikely to set them a massive target this could be the day the Knights get on the board especially if Andre Russell goes mad with the bat for longer than he managed on Friday night.
There isn’t a bet I like in the final match between the Titans and the Warriors. I’m on the Titans outright so I’ll sit back and kick my feet up in the hope I see a Titans win which will do their long term chances no harm.
