Big Matches

The televised action comes from Wales on Saturday when Cardiff City take on their former manager Neil Warnock and his Middlesbrough side in a match which you sense could be pivotal to the future of the current Bluebirds boss Mick McCarthy, who is in desperate need of a result after Cardiff have lost their last seven matches. Middlesbrough look to have found a groove so it won’t be easy. The leaders AFC Bournemouth are in action on Saturday and with Fulham not playing until Sunday the Cherries have the chance to go at least six points clear when they entertain Huddersfield Town at the Vitality Stadium.

Best of the Rest

West Bromwich Albion will be looking to take advantage of Fulham not being in action to move into second place in the table. They have to beat Bristol City in order for that to happen. Coventry in fourth place are also on show on Saturday. They face rock bottom Derby County at the Ricoh Arena while QPR in fifth travel to Peterborough United. Hull City are the other team in the bottom three who are on show. They make the journey to Kenilworth Road to take on Luton who will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to five matches. There is a local derby too as Blackpool host Preston North End.

Betting

I’ll go with the one bet on Saturday afternoon and that comes with my own team Luton Town who will be expected to see off a Hull City side whose return to the Championship started well but has become a struggle since then. Hull won their opening match 4-1 against Preston but they have only scored five times in the 12 matches that have come since then and only won once in that time. The midweek defeat to Peterborough United will only heighten the pressure on them and that was on Wednesday night so they’ve not had much time to recover.

Things are going completely the opposite for Luton Town. They are four unbeaten which includes a 5-0 win here against Coventry City which shows what the Hatters can deliver when they are on it. I’ve mentioned a few times the number of chances Luton create. They are second in this entire league for xG and third highest scorers. Aside from Birmingham who took advantage of some defensive absences, the only teams to beat Luton this season are Bournemouth and West Brom who might be the best two teams in the league. Clearly Hull aren’t that and I don’t expect their run of five matches on the road without a win in which they haven’t scored a single goal to end here.

Tips

Back Luton Town to beat Hull City for a 3/10 stake at 1.91 with Coral
