Big Matches
The big televised match sees Fulham continuing their quest for an immediate return to the Premier League when they make the short trip across London to face Millwall at The New Den. The other televised offering sees two sides in the bottom three of the early Championship table meeting when Huddersfield Town and Preston North End collide at the John Smith’s Stadium with both teams searching for their first win of the new campaign.
Best of the Rest
Cardiff City are the next highest team in action on Tuesday evening and they head to London Road to face Peterborough United who will be looking to build on their fine late turnaround win at the weekend. Stoke City are another team who have got off to a solid start and they make the trip to Wales to take on Swansea City while two teams with a win to their name meet at Oakwell when Barnsley welcome Luton Town. The other two matches sees Blackpool taking on Coventry City and Reading meeting Bristol City in the later kick off.
Betting
I’m a little surprised that Cardiff City are the price they are to win at London Road. Peterborough United beat Derby County at the weekend but they needed two goals in injury time to do it and that is a Derby side who are odds on across the board to be relegated and who are going to struggle this term whether they go down or not. That is certainly not the case with Cardiff. If the Bluebirds exit the division this season it will be through the top door rather than the bottom one and I expect them to show why here.
I saw Peterborough on the opening week of the season and they looked an absolute mess defensively and failed to land a blow on a Luton defence which was missed three of its first choice back four. Cardiff are defensively sound and with Kieffer Moore starting to get more active after a busy summer their attack is going to catch fire in the near future too. Cardiff brushed one of the promoted sides to one side at the weekend and at odds against with some draw cover I’m happy to back the Welsh outfit to do likewise here.
