With the next international break coming along in a week we have a midweek round of action in the Sky Bet Championship, which gets underway with half of the fixtures taking place on a competitive looking Tuesday night.
Two of the six matches that take place on Tuesday evening are available on the main channels on TV, while the other four will be on the red button so if you have a bet and have that service you don’t need to miss a minute of the action.
Tuesday’s fixtures are as follows: (All 7.45pm, UK TV in brackets)
Birmingham City v Bristol City (Sky Sports Arena)
Coventry City v Swansea City
Luton Town v Middlesbrough (Sky Main Event & Sky Football)
Millwall v Reading
Nottingham Forest v Sheffield United
Peterborough United v Huddersfield Town

Preview
The televised game on the main football channel comes from Kenilworth Road where Luton Town look to bounce back from their defeat at Preston at the weekend when they entertain an injury ravaged Middlesbrough side. Both teams sit level on points just inside the top half so this is a big game for both. Two teams who sit just below them in the table meet in the other televised game when Birmingham City look to continue their revival against Bristol City.
There are four other matches on the evening and the highest placed team on show is Coventry City. They welcome Swansea City to their home ground while the pick of the matches could be the one between Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United. Peterborough United will look to pull further clear of the relegation zone when they host Huddersfield Town while two mid-table teams meet at The New Den when Millwall host Reading.
Betting
I’ll take a couple of bets, one in the TV game and one away from it. In the TV game the 4/1 on Glen Rea to be booked can’t be ignored. He is a holding midfielder who loves going to ground in a tackle and gets involved in a lot of the defensive play so is always a prime candidate to be booked. He was shown a yellow card in both meetings against Middlesbrough last season and already has three yellows in 11 appearances this term. He didn’t even start one of the matches he got shown a card in. With the referee being under pressure from the away dugout throughout it won’t take much for Rea to find his way into the notebook once again.
The other bet I like is for Coventry City to see off Swansea City. Coventry have only dropped two points at home all season and play their home conditions well. I mentioned a couple of games ago that the atmosphere appears to be much better these days and it is clearly inspiring the Sky Blues. Swansea have found some form in recent times. They have won three of their last four matches but they have all been at home. They have only won one away match all season which was at Bristol City fairly early on and we all know Bristol City couldn’t win at home for ages until the weekend when they finally got that elusive win. The Robins were probably the better side in that match too. Coventry haven’t lost at home this season so with the draw cover I think they’re a good bet to win here.
