The last round of action in the Sky Bet Championship for 2021 begins on Wednesday evening where a scheduled seven matches have turned into three because of the decimation that Covid-19 is causing throughout the division.
All three matches are available on the red button and via the streaming service that each club provides so if you have a bet on any of them there is no reason to miss out on following every kick of it.
Blackburn Rovers vs Barnsley (19.45)
One of the three matches on Wednesday evening is a Roses affair as the Red Rose representative of Blackburn Rovers host the White Rose outfit Barnsley in a match that is going to have implications at both ends of the table.
Blackburn are absolutely flying at the minute and will go joint second with a win here, a win they will be expected to achieve against a Barnsley side who have only won one of their last 21 matches and who are still looking for a first win on their travels this term, recording just four points from 11 matches away from Oakwell. It gets no easier for Barnsley here because no team in the league have taken more points on home turf than Blackburn with just Fulham and West Brom leaving Ewood Park with all three points this season. Both sides had their Boxing Day match called off so fitness won’t be a problem so I expect Blackburn to come away with another home win here.

Blackpool vs Middlesbrough (19.45)
Another match over the course of the evening comes from Bloomfield Road where Blackpool are the latest side looking to stop the momentum that Middlesbrough have picked up since they relieved Neil Warnock of his duties a couple of months ago.
Blackpool have done wonderfully well in their first season back at this level but there have been one or two signs over the last month or so that they are starting to find things a little tougher, with injuries and other factors beginning to hinder them. Middlesbrough are beginning to fly since Chris Wilder was appointed. Whether that is all the new manager bounce or just a sign of how much they were underperforming under Warnock only time will tell but they are certainly in good form. I would imagine they are the more likely winners but Blackpool play good football and never know when they are beaten so I’m happy to leave this one alone.
Coventry City vs Millwall (19.45)
The other match on Wednesday evening sees a potentially overachieving Coventry City side taking on a Millwall team who are playing the game heavily shorthanded as they have a number of issues with Covid-19 at the present time.
To be fair to Millwall, they have been open about their issues and have pointed out that a number of the players they have available have had no training in the lead up to the game, while they have so many missing that teenagers will fill the bench. That doesn’t guarantee a Coventry City win but when you consider how well the Sky Blues go at their home ground there is a strong case to have expected the home side to win this anyway. We don’t know quite how strong or weak Millwall will be in their starting XI but if a number haven’t trained recently we can expect them to fade in the second half so this looks to be a great chance for Coventry to pick up another three points.
