The midweek action in the Sky Bet Championship comes to a close on Wednesday evening when the other six matches take place on a night where much of the focus will be on the very top of the table and the extreme bottom of it.
Of the six matches one of them is live on the main channel on TV for us to enjoy but the other five will all be hiding behind the red button so if you have a bet on a match there is the potential to be able to watch it play out.
Wednesday’s fixtures are as follows: (7.45pm unless stated, UK TV in brackets)
Barnsley v Derby County
Blackburn Rovers v Fulham (Sky Main Event & Sky Football)
Blackpool v Stoke City
AFC Bournemouth v Preston North End
Cardiff City v Queens Park Rangers
West Bromwich Albion v Hull City (8pm)

Preview
The televised match focuses on the top of the table where second placed Fulham look to make it five league wins on the spin when they make the trip to Ewood Park to take on a Blackburn Rovers side who have the potential to be dangers to anyone they take on. While that is going on AFC Bournemouth will be aiming to extend their unbeaten start to the season when they host Preston North End. The other team involved in the top three are West Bromwich Albion and they welcome lowly Hull City to The Hawthorns.
Two sides who could end their evening in the top six meet at Bloomfield Road when Blackpool play host to Stoke City while the other two matches focus more on the bottom end of the table. There is a huge clash at Oakwell where the bottom two meet when Barnsley, who start life after Markus Schopp, welcome rock bottom Derby County to Yorkshire. The other match sees Cardiff City looking for an elusive win when they host a very inconsistent QPR side who could finish the night in the top six or halfway down the table.
Betting
Two bets stand out to me over the course of the evening with one of them coming in the TV match where I expect to see more than 2.5 goals when Blackburn Rovers take on Fulham. These two have the two leading scorers in the Championship within their ranks in Ben Brereton Diaz and Aleksandar Mitrovic and they have defences to feast on which aren’t the strongest in the league. Those two aren’t the only two capable of scoring and I expect both teams to take the game to the other. Blackburn are at home so have the onus on them to force the pace a little but Fulham won’t be playing for a draw with it being so tight at the top. I expect over 2.5 goals to land here.
Fulham will be hoping AFC Bournemouth lose when they host Preston North End but I don’t expect their wish to be granted. I was at Preston’s game against Luton on Saturday and I didn’t see a huge amount to impress me even allowing for a 2-0 win. They looked a limited side who took advantage of a rare Luton no show. I don’t think Bournemouth are going to play as poorly against them. Scott Parker’s men are buzzing at both ends of the pitch at the minute. They drew three of their first five matches this season while they were adjusting to life under Scott Parker but in the 10 games since then they have dropped just two points and conceded just three goals in those matches. Preston are yet to win on their travels this season and have failed to score in four of their seven away games. I don’t see either statistic changing too much here.
