Super League – Friday 1st July Matches Betting Preview

We have two more matches from the Super League on Friday evening when the table will continue to take shape at the top and the bottom with the split only three rounds away after this one.

As ever on a Friday night we have a televised match which is Salford Red Devils against Castleford Tigers while in the match which isn’t on television we have Hull KR hosting high flying Warrington.

Salford Red Devils vs Castleford Tigers

These two sides have met twice this season with a win each so this one will decide their trilogy if you like. If Salford lose here then they know they will be going into the Middle 8s once again unless they win their appeal for their points deduction. Castleford are clinging to feint hopes that they will make the top four and need to keep winning.

Salford are without the suspended Justin Carney for this match so Niall Evalds comes back into the squad. On the plus side for the Red Devils they had last week off as Castleford knocked them out of the Cup earlier in the season and in a strange twist of fate it might be Salford that benefit from that this week.

Castleford were given a bit of a beating in the Cup last week but I admired the way they stuck to their guns in the second half and in the end they managed to restore a little bit of respectability in the scoreline. They will be without Denny Solomona for this one so Paddy Flynn comes back into the side.

These two have had similar records recently but Castleford have had the tougher run in that time and I sense they might actually be in better form of the two but the likes of Wigan and Hull FC haven’t allowed them to show it. Salford’s recent defeats have been to Leeds and Huddersfield which isn’t great so at odds against I’m going to chance the form book here and take Castleford to win.

Hull KR vs Warrington Wolves

The league table would suggest that this will be a comfortable home win but Hull KR have started to show a bit of fighting spirit and having had last week off they will be nice and fresh for the challenge here.

Warrington played in a tough encounter last week and now miss Kurt Gidley as a result of those efforts. Ryan Atkins is another who is out who Warrington are just a little too depleted for my liking. I’m tempted to get involved with Hull KR with the start here but their captain Terry Campese has been ruled out for the season again which is a blow and in the end the match has a leave alone feel about it.
