Another round of Super League matches gets underway on Thursday night when Hull KR play host to the Catalans Dragons in a game which is quite important for both teams.
Hull KR
Rovers had a good win over Leeds last week to banish the memories of a disappointing Easter where they blew a lead in the derby and then found Wigan too strong for them but there are enough things to worry about still for Rovers not least a leaky defence. They seem incapable of playing for a full 80 minutes and they’re definitely going to have to do that if they are to triumph here.
Terry Campese is once again out injured and he will be a big loss. Maurice Blair will go into the halves but he carries nothing like the composure that Campese does in there. Albert Kelly and Josh Mantellato both miss out too so Hull KR are without their three most crucial backs.
Catalans Dragons
The Dragons head to Humberside in amazing form at the minute. They have won six of their last seven matches and the only defeat in that time was against a Warrington side who picked their pocket late on so we’re really beginning to see the side many expected they would be this year, a side more than capable of making the top four.
The French side have some injuries going into this match too just like their opponents with Todd Carney, Paul Aiton, Remi Casty and Justin Horo all out. That means Thomas Bosc should slip into the halves. Krisnan Inu returns from suspension to fill in the void in the centres.
Overview
I think this is going to be a tough assignment for Rovers. They have been wide open defensively all season and although their forwards work hard there is a clear gap in class between their big men and the ones Catalans Dragons are sending over.
Catalans are scoring plenty of points at the minute. That’s so surprise because they are so powerful down the middle and I expect their big men to tire out the Hull KR pack and the longer this goes the further clear I expect the Catalans to pull. I fancy them to cover a converted try and some here.
