Super League XXII – Friday 10th February Matches Betting Preview

After a pulsating opener to the Super League season there are another two matches from the elite division in English rugby league on Friday night as the Leigh Centurions return to the top flight in front of the TV cameras.

One match is live on TV which is the match we will cover first in this preview while there is another one away from the cameras which will come later.

Castleford Tigers vs Leigh Centurions

The side touted as the dark horses for many judges in Castleford Tigers welcome the new boys to The Jungle for their opening match of the season. I would wager these will be two of the better sides to watch in the Super League this season so this should be a really good watch.

Castleford are expected to give debuts to Greg Eden, Zak Hardaker and Jesse Sene-Lafao who will be three big players this season while Leigh Centurions have signed a host of players who will all have chances of playing. They include Ryan Hampshire, Atelea Vea and Ben Crooks.

Given how these two like to play their rugby fast and expansive I’m expecting plenty of points in this match and with that in mind I like the over 50.5pts. We saw a tight game on Thursday night but I’m expecting the opposite of that here. I fancy the points to flow in a very open game.

Widnes Vikings vs Huddersfield Giants

Two sides who I expect to struggle this season meet in the match after from the cameras at the Stobart Stadium as the Widnes Vikings take on the Huddersfield Giants and all eyes will be on these two to see if either have made any improvement from last season.

Widnes lost Kevin Brown in the off season and I believe that is a massive thing for them and the fact they haven’t recruited anyone to replace him is very much a surprise. Huddersfield let a lot of seasoned professionals go in the winter and have to be described as being in a rebuilding stage but you don’t sense much optimism coming from their camp which is a concern.

I think this is a match to keep an eye on both sides and look for their structures and set ups before getting involved in them as we go through the season. If you forced me into a bet then I would take the home side based on their fast start to last season but there is no confidence behind that pick at all so I’m happy to leave this one alone.
