The Super League continues with two matches on Friday night as four sides look to pick up what could be a valuable two points. As always on these evenings there is a match in front of the television cameras and one away from them. We’ll begin with the live game.
Leeds Rhinos vs Wakefield Trinity Wildcats
Two sides who had much needed wins last week meet in front of the cameras in a Yorkshire derby. Wakefield Trinity have a very good recent record against the Rhinos which will give them confidence but Leeds must be buzzing after demolishing Catalans Dragons last week.
Leeds were given four weeks to turn things around after their humbling at Castleford a couple of weeks ago and the message clearly got through judging by last week but one good result doesn’t mean a complete turnaround has taken place and I’m not that comfortable with them giving Wakefield a 12pt start on the handicaps. That said I’m not all that keener on Wakefield.
I am going to allow myself a small bet on Adam Cuthbertson to score anytime though. He is overpriced at 7/2. He bagged a brace last week and a forward has scored in every match against Wakefield this season since the opening day. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Australian crash over.
Hull FC vs Widnes Vikings
Hull FC head into this match looking to build on two very solid wins in the last fortnight when they take on a Widnes side who are starting to look out of their depth at this level with some key departures in the winter.
Widnes showed plenty of heart in their previous away match at Catalans which puts me off taking Hull to cover a pretty significant handicap around the 20pts but I can’t see the Vikings winning this. I fully expect Hull FC to win here but with Widnes having a point to prove they might just have it in them to stay close. I wouldn’t like to put my money on it either way though.
