Super League XXII – Friday 21st July Matches Betting Preview

The final round of Super League matches before the mid-season split continues on Friday night as we have three matches to get stuck into. With the exception of the Leigh Centurions the sides in action will all be jostling for positions heading into the Super 8s.

We have one TV match which is the one involving the Wigan Warriors and Leeds Rhinos with two other matches away from the spotlight of the bright lights and the cameras. We’ll kick things off with the TV match.

Wigan Warriors vs Leeds Rhinos

Usually we would expect a classic encounter between these two sides who are steeped in history in this competition but with the amount of injuries the Rhinos have I don’t think we are going to get one here.

Leeds head across the Pennines with 13 injured players missing and some of them are hugely important such as Danny Maguire, Rob Burrow, Kallum Watkins and Ryan Hall so this is a very depleted Leeds squad doing battle here.

Wigan Warriors have the Challenge Cup semi-final next weekend but they have to win this to keep their feint Grand Final hopes alive so they look to be going full strength into this one and with Shaun Wane likely to want his side to build up a head of steam ahead of the semi-final I expect Wigan to win and win well.

Hull FC vs Huddersfield Giants

Two sides who will be competing in the Super 8s in two weeks time do battle at the KCOM when Hull FC take on Huddersfield Giants and it will be interesting to see how the home side attack this one given they have the cup semi next weekend.

Huddersfield Giants can concentrate purely on this competition and give this their all as they go in search of a third win in a row and a seventh in eight matches. Hull FC have lost their last three but they do have Albert Kelly and Gareth Ellis back here so we should see them give a better account of themselves.

I can’t believe next week won’t be on the minds of the Hull FC players though so while they might win the match the Giants’ eight point start is a few too many. It wouldn’t even be a surprise if they don’t need it.

Leigh Centurions vs Salford City Reds

Leigh Centurions know for the second year in a row they will be in the qualifiers when the Super League returns in a couple of weeks but before they reach there they have a match with the Challenge Cup semi-finalists Salford City Reds.

Any other week I would take the Reds in this match but they will have next week on their minds because it is such a huge occasion for them so I’m reluctant to get involved here as Leigh offer nothing in terms of motivation for a bet either.
