Super League XXVIII – Friday 10th March Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The fourth set of matches in the Super League XXVIII season continues on Friday night when four of the six fixtures for the weekend take place as the early league table begins to take shape across the course of the evening.

One of the four matches will be live on the TV and given that all four matches kick off at the same time we should get plenty of regular updates on the other three games throughout the TV coverage.

Friday’s fixtures are as follows: (All 8pm – UK TV in brackets)

Huddersfield Giants v Castleford Tigers (Sky Sports Arena)

Hull Kingston Rovers v Warrington Wolves

Leeds Rhinos v Wakefield Trinity

Leigh Leopards v St Helens

Preview

The TV cameras head to the John Smith’s Stadium for the local derby between the Huddersfield Giants, who have begun their season in solid if unspectacular fashion, and the Castleford Tigers who have been awful this season which has already cost Lee Radford his job. Elsewhere, the leaders going into the week, Warrington Wolves, look to maintain their 100% record when they go up against a Hull KR side who are already beginning to pile up the absentees which isn’t ideal.

The champions St Helens are on show on Friday evening as well. They make the trip to the new boys of the Super League in Leigh Leopards who will be looking to follow up their win at Hull KR last weekend. St Helens go there off the back of a defeat to the Leeds Rhinos and the 2022 runners up will look to build on that victory when they welcome a woeful looking Wakefield Trinity to Headingley in another Yorkshire derby.

Betting

Injuries are hurting Hull KR with some big players missing for their tie with Warrington Wolves on Friday evening. Kane Linnett and Jordan Abdull both miss out with injury and Shaun Kenny-Dowall begins a suspension and while the likes of Louis Senior and Dean Hadley come back into the squad for this one I’ve got to think this is an ideal chance for Warrington Wolves to continue their very impressive beginning to the season.

Warrington have won their opening three matches and what was most impressive in that start was the fact they were able to beat Salford last week despite making an absolute mess of the first half and finding themselves double digits down at the break. Warrington are being asked to cover eight points here which while we have to accept that Craven Park is a tough place to go, I expect the Wolves pack which has started the season brilliantly well so far to get on top at some point and then the dangerous backs can expose the Hull KR absentees to ensure another double figure Warrington win.

Tips

Back Warrington Wolves (-8) to beat Hull KR for a 3/10 stake at 2.00 with Betfred
