The Super League XXVIII weekend concludes on Saturday afternoon when the one remaining match in the fourth round of the season concludes at the MKM Stadium where Hull FC go up against the Salford Red Devils.
These two have had mixed starts to their campaigns with Hull FC winning their opening two matches before being beaten last week. Salford opened up with a win but have lost their last two and will want to turn their form around.
Where to watch
The match will be streamed live and in full on the Our League app although you do have to pay to watch it. The build-up begins at 2.45pm with kick off coming 15 minutes later.
Hull FC
I think it is fair to say that an improvement was expected from Hull FC this season after two campaigns of flirting with the top six only for injuries to see them tumble out of that position in the table when it really matters. That might still happen again this term for all we know but they do look a better side even though their best player, Jake Connor, left in the close season to go to the Huddersfield Giants.
If you wanted to be picky you could question what Hull FC have beaten this season. Castleford Tigers look in a mess while the Leeds Rhinos were very poor on the night they collided with Hull FC. The loss to Catalans Dragons is never a terrible one in France and doesn’t look nearly as bad after the way they dealt with the Wigan Warriors on Thursday evening. It all adds to be a better Hull FC output under Tony Smith, and we should continue to see improvement as they build and gel as a squad under him.
Salford Red Devils
While their win over the Leigh Leopards was nothing spectacular in the opening week of the season, Salford Red Devils did offer up a threat that they will once again be contenders for the top six. That still can’t be ruled out but two defeats since then, in matches they were in control of at the half time mark, just shows that they are not quite up to the standards which they showed in the second part of last term in particular.
The surprise thing is that they haven’t really lost anyone who was particularly influential from last season. The one thing which has happened is they haven’t really improved defensively and that is going to need to be sorted out if they want to finish in the top six in a potentially better competition this season. The positive from what was actually a nasty loss in Warrington last week was their attacking combinations showed signs of getting up to speed.

Team News
Tony Smith has been forced into a couple of changes to his squad with Ben McNamara and Liam Sutcliffe out with injury. They join the likes of Carlos Tuimavave and Jake Trueman on the sideline. Scott Taylor returns from suspension.
Salford Red Devils will be without Dan Sarginson who left the club with immediate effect earlier in the week somewhat out of the blue. Danny Addy has been included in the 19-man squad named by Paul Rowley.
Betting
Given the way these two have started the season and like to play their rugby I think we should expect to see some points in this match. Hull FC have already shipped 30 points in two of their three matches this season while Salford coughed up that number in defeat to Warrington last week so these defences can be got after and attacked and these two teams have the attacking talent to do exactly that so scoring should be good.
I like over 42.5 points in this one. The key thing about this match is the two kickers are reliable goal kickers so fours will be turned into six more often than not. Salford Red Devils haven’t changed the way they play since Paul Rowley came in and I don’t see that changing now while Tony Smith has never changed from playing attacking, expansive rugby either. The backs of these two sides are very skilful and I’d be surprised if we see a score with less than 42.5pts on the board at the final whistle.
