An outstanding innings from Evin Lewis ensured the West Indies kept the T20 series alive on Saturday and when they take on Pakistan for the fourth and final time in the shortest format of the game on Sunday they can share the series with another win.
Pakistan dominated the series in the early stages and head into Sunday’s finale knowing that they are guaranteed a draw from the series but a win will give them it outright.
West Indies
A brilliant innings earned the West Indies hope of squaring the series but although Evin Lewis was magnificent with the bat you would think someone else is going to have to stand up and be counted if the Windies are to win this match and claim a 2-2 draw. In each of the matches so far they have had an individual go well but they’ve not done it as a team.
There were signs of the side that won the World T20 in the previous match on Saturday. They bowled with more guile and hostility and they were much improved in the field, although as many judges were quick to recognise, they couldn’t get any worse in that department. A repeat of Saturday’s bowling effort gives them every chance here.
Pakistan
Pakistan will be smarting from defeat on Saturday. The worst thing about the defeat was probably the fact that at one stage they were in complete control of the match when they were batting but a couple of run outs and a poor finish to their batting innings gave the West Indies hope and a bit of freedom and they jumped all over it.
There is no doubt that Pakistan are a better side when they bowl first but they should have taken plenty of encouragement from how well they were going in the previous match and the fact they won the second match when batting first. They just need to finish their innings better if they are forced to bat first.
Team News
West Indies made the change I thought they would make for the last game and it worked. They are unlikely to change a winning side unless there is a late injury.
After getting a bit of a going over from Evin Lewis in the previous game, Pakistan could look to shake up their bowling attack. Hasan Ali might be the one in line to be replaced if that is the case.
Betting
I’ve been with Pakistan throughout the series so far and I’m not deserting them at this late stage. They lost on Saturday to a genuinely top class innings but knocks like that don’t come along too often so now isn’t the time to shy away from the tourists.
I still think they have the better bowling attack and their batting as a unit has been stronger throughout the series. Unless a West Indian goes mad like Lewis did in the previous one I believe the better all-round side will win and that is Pakistan.
