The final day of the World Championship will be played out at the Crucible Theatre on Monday as just two sessions of this wonderful tournament remain. For either Mark Selby or Ding Junhui this will be a magic Monday that they’ll never forget.
Sunday recap
Selby will go into the final day of the final with a 10-7 lead after two sessions of play. Having led 6-0 at one stage on Sunday, the Jester might be disappointed to only lead by three and he’ll know only too well how dangerous that scoreline is because he trailed O’Sullivan by that same scoreline two years ago only to turn it around on the Monday.
Ding will be looking for a first world title on Monday and having come back on Sunday he may well still have a part to play in a final, which while a war of attrition at times, is all set to come to a fascinating conclusion.
Monday betting
It has been a successful tournament for us betting wise and we’re going to finish off with one more bet on Monday as the event draws to a close.
All of our pre-final bets are looking good at the halfway stage but I can’t resist a small punt on Ding Junhui to win Monday afternoon’s third session. Anyone who will have read my pre-match preview will know I fully expected this final to be close and go deep on Monday night and I still expect that now based on what we saw on Monday.
Selby’s problem is that he hasn’t made a 50 break since the fifth frame so that is 12 frames ago and there aren’t going to be enough scrappy frames for him to protect his lead so he is going to have to find his scoring.
The final may well get scrappy again in the evening session when the pressure cranks up and the nerves really kick in but I fancy the third session to be quite open and that can only favour Ding based on what we’ve seen so far.
Tips
Back D.Junhui to win 3rd session for a 3/10 stake at 2.30 with William Hill
