The second half of this weekend’s World Cup Qualifiers begin on Sunday evening and with matches running out in this group stage each game takes on extra significance which should make for a dramatic night of football action.
Group A
Things begin in one of the intriguing groups with a couple of early kick offs. They see Sweden looking to move level with France for a couple of hours when they head to Belarus while the two sides immediately behind them do battle as the Netherlands host Bulgaria. France look to have a penalty kick when they play host to Luxembourg in the later match.
Group B
The big match in this group sees Portugal heading to Hungary needing to win to keep up with leaders Switzerland. The Swiss look to have an easy enough task to win in Latvia so Portugal can’t afford to slip up. The other match in this group is an early kick off when the Faroe Islands host Andorra in a clash of the minnows.
Group H
There is little doubt which is the big match in this group too. It comes from Athens as Greece host runaway leaders Belgium. If Greece slip up in that contest Bosnia-Herzegovina will overtake them as long as they avoid failing to win in Gibraltar. The early kick off in the group sees Estonia playing host to Cyprus.

Betting
I like a couple of bets on this set of matches. Cyprus head to Estonia four matches unbeaten in this group and there is no reason why that can’t be made into five as I think they have a great chance of winning there. They showed their spirit on Thursday night when they fought back from 2-0 down to beat Bosnia-Herzegovina. While that was going on Estonia were drawing with a poor Greece side. Aside from the four goals they scored against Gibraltar, Estonia have just one goal in six matches in this group so if Cyprus can score it is hard to see them losing which makes them a bet on the Asian lines.
Elsewhere I was tempted by Belgium but the fact that they don’t need to win is putting me off backing them but I do like Switzerland. Latvia have regressed hugely in this campaign and I expect the Swiss to take advantage of that and maintain their lead at the top of the group table. Latvia have only scored twice in their last six matches in this group, losing them all, whereas the Swiss have four clean sheets on the bounce in winning outcomes. I fancy they can extend that run to five by winning without conceding here.
