World Cup Qualifying – Saturday 10th June European Matches Betting Preview

The second set of matches in the World Cup Qualifiers this week takes place on Saturday across two kick off times and for those in the UK it is a big night with two auld enemies taking each other on in one of the stand out fixtures.

As well as Scotland and England we shouldn’t forget that Northern Ireland are also in action as are the defending world champions Germany on what should be a really good night of international football.

Group C

All eyes will be on Northern Ireland first up as they look to maintain their position behind Germany. They head to lowly Azerbaijan needing to win while the other matches in the group see Norway playing host to the Czech Republic while Germany look to have a penalty kick at home to San Marino.

Group E

There is an early kick off in Group E too as Denmark make the long trip to Kazakhstan with the two later matches being of more interest perhaps. Montenegro begin the evening in second place in a congested race for the play-off spot and they host Armenia while the leaders Poland welcome Romania.

Group F

This is where the big clash takes place as Scotland host England at Hampden Park. England will take another step towards making it to Russia while Scotland will be looking for something to remain in touch of the play-off spot. Slovenia are in the same boat as Scotland when they host Malta with Lithuania hosting Slovakia in the other match.

Betting

I’m going to be a little more positive on Saturday evening after just the one bet on Friday. In the big match in Glasgow I fancy England will win the match as it should play out perfectly for their counter attacking style but I don’t expect them to win big. It is a derby. It will be fierce and passionate and neither side will want to lose. That said I expect England to have more class and composure in the final third and they look good value to win by the odd goal.

Away from that match there are two sides I like, both of whom we saw at Euro 2016 last summer. Poland are going great guns in Group E having won their last four matches and I expect them to have too much for a Romania side who have now gone four matches without scoring in this group and look to be really struggling. Poland are always good at home and I expect them to maintain their dominance of this section with a win.

Finally I can’t resist taking on Norway. They are nothing special anyway but without Bournemouth man Joshua King through injury they might not take a lot of beating. Norway have lost five of their last six with the only win in that time hardly counting against San Marino. This isn’t the Czech Republic side of 20 years ago but it is still effective and has flashes of quality. They lost 2-1 to Belgium in a friendly in the week but that isn’t a terrible result so the Czechs look a great line too.
