2017 PDC World Darts Championship – Day 13 Afternoon Session Betting Preview

The last day of darts in 2016 is the quarter final day of the PDC World Darts Championship and what a day it promises to be. Six of the top eight seeds have made it through with one of the other two being Raymond Barneveld who is every bit good enough to be in that echelon so we’re set for a belting double session day.

The first two quarter finals will be played in the afternoon session with the second and third seeds in action. We’re up to the best of nine sets now so it is all set up for a couple of great matches to begin the day.

James Wade vs Peter Wright

James Wade:                     Round 1 beat Ronny Huybrechts 3-0 – Ave: 93.83 180s: 2

                                             Round 2 beat Steve Beaton 4-1 – Ave: 99.39 180s: 5

                                             Round 3 beat Michael Smith 4-3 – Ave: 94.01 180s: 5

Peter Wright:                     Round 1 beat Jerry Hendriks 3-0 – Ave: 101.06 180s: 1

                                              Round 2 beat Jamie Lewis 4-0 – Ave: 103.53 180s: 2

                                              Round 3 beat Ian White 4-1 – Ave: 103.05 180s: 3

Head to Head: 14-9

The first quarter final sees James Wade taking on Peter Wright in what should be an entertaining way to open up a huge day of darts. Both men have been beyond this round before so they know how to get it done.

James Wade probably thought he was going home when he trailed a rampant Michael Smith 3-1 in the previous round but Smith opened the door and Wade needed no second invitation to plough through it but he will need to hit doubles an awful lot better in this match than he did in that one especially if he is outscored like you would expect him to be.

Peter Wright has cruised through this tournament which can be a good thing and a bad thing. He has cruised through because he has played really well but it means we don’t know what he has got if he is made to battle which might be a concern going forward.

I don’t think it will be a concern here though because I expect Wright to have too much for Wade. They have met five times this year with Wright winning four of them comfortably and the other one went to Wade in a deciding leg. All things being equal I expect Wright to come through with a bit in hand.

Gary Anderson vs Dave Chisnall

Gary Anderson:                Round 1 beat Mark Frost 3-0 – Ave: 96.16 180s: 5

                                             Round 2 beat Andrew Gilding 4-0 – Ave: 102.58 180s: 6

                                             Round 3 beat Benito van de Pas 4-2 – Ave: 107.68 180s: 11

Dave Chisnall:                   Round 1 beat Rowby-John Rodriguez 3-0 – Ave: 98.72 180s: 9

                                              Round 2 beat Chris Dobey 4-2 – Ave: 92.88 180s: 6

                                              Round 3 beat Jelle Klaasen 4-2 – Ave: 93.88 180s: 12

Head to Head: 12-4

Two of the heavier scorers in the game collide in the second quarter final as Gary Anderson looks to extend his winning streak on this stage while Dave Chisnall will be competing in the quarter final for the first time.

Anderson looked like he would be coming into this match without dropping a set but credit to Benito van de Pas who pulled out a couple of stunning sets to make the Scot think in the last round. It has been much more of a struggle for Dave Chisnall but he showed his scoring power against Klaasen in the previous round in a match which should have done wonders for his confidence.

I’m not going to bet on the match. I think Anderson will win but he’s too short to back and I’ve been burnt on a handicap with him already this week. I do like his 180s line though at 9.5. I thought Anderson’s scoring against van de Pas was really good and he nailed 11 180s in six sets although in one of them he wasn’t really scoring many so it was effectively five. It is hard to see this not having six or seven sets at least so the potential for Anderson to clatter the 180s in should be high.

Anderson has won both his quarter finals in the last two years 5-1. He has hit 10 and 11 180s in that time and is scoring better now so logic suggests this line can be covered.
