Once again the Premier League weekend concludes with the Monday Night Football which for the second week in three comes from Stamford Bridge as Chelsea host Burnley in what is a big evening for the home side.
Although they still have the Europa League to fall back on, Chelsea have the chance to move into third place with a win in this match but they might not have it all their own way against a Burnley team free from pressure who won here last year.
Chelsea
Whenever they get in a position to control their own destiny in the race for the top four, Chelsea slip up. Admittedly their latest defeat came against Liverpool in a match they were certainly not disgraced in but it all adds up to make life harder than they would have wanted given that they are trying to compete on two fronts over the remainder of the campaign.
Maurizio Sarri has had to rotate and use his squad wisely over recent weeks and he is set to have to do that until the end of the campaign now but with the chance to move into third place you would expect him to put a strong line up out here, even allowing for the fact that they played on Thursday night in the Europa League.
Burnley
At the halfway mark Burnley looked almost certainties for relegation. They were nothing like the team that qualified for Europe at the end of last season and were seemingly doomed but they have turned things around in a big way and while they are not yet on the 40pt mark that everyone harps on about, they are perfectly safe this term, so they can approach this with some freedom.
The Clarets head into this match on a run of three wins in a row and while you couldn’t say that they’ve beaten anything substantial, they have scored seven goals in that time and have found the back of the net in 10 of their last 11 outings, which is no mean feat in this division. They have good memories of Stamford Bridge from last season too.
Team News
Chelsea are expecting Eden Hazard to be fit for this match after he missed the Europa League match in midweek but Antonio Rudiger is set to be out once again. Callum Hudson-Odoi is pushing for another Premier League start.
Burnley boss Sean Dyche is without Steven Defour, Peter Crouch and Aaron Lennon but he could have Phil Bardsley available after he is said to be fit having overcome a gashed leg. Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes will look to continue their good partnership.

Betting
This should be a good Monday Night Football. When Chelsea hosted West Ham a couple of Monday’s ago I never really thought West Ham could trouble Chelsea but Burnley have got a front two who are awkward for any defence so I certainly don’t see the Londoners having this one all their own way.
With that in mind, I think the best bet on this contest could be the 23/20 on Burnley to find the back of the net. I highlighted above that they have scored in 10 of their last 11 matches and that includes scoring at Anfield and Old Trafford. They also scored at Arsenal this season so they are not afraid to take the game to the bigger teams. Chelsea don’t play many direct teams but Slavia Prague bagged three against them in midweek while Cardiff, Fulham, Newcastle and Brighton have all scored against them this term. I’ll play Burnley to score here.
