The extremely busy week in Sky Bet League 1 comes to an end on Saturday afternoon when the 24 sides play their third match in the space of eight days as another full card takes place up and down the country.
We are heading towards the end of the first quarter of the campaign now so the table is beginning to take shape and already there are a few sides who will be eager for points to avoid a season of struggle.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows:
Blackpool v Rochdale
Bradford City v Sunderland
Bristol Rovers v Walsall
Charlton Athletic v Coventry City
Doncaster Rovers v Fleetwood Town
Luton Town v Scunthorpe United
Peterborough United v Barnsley
Plymouth Argyle v AFC Wimbledon
Portsmouth v Gillingham
Shrewsbury Town v Accrington Stanley
Southend United v Oxford United
Wycombe Wanderers v Burton Albion
Big Matches
It might be Portsmouth who lead the way in this division but it is the match at London Road which looks the biggest of the day when second placed Peterborough United host Barnsley who are in sixth. Pompey welcome Gillingham to Fratton Park in a match they will be expected to win while Sunderland in fourth travel to Bradford City for a battle between two former Premier League outfits. High flying Doncaster in third take on a Fleetwood Town side who are without a win in their last five matches.
Best of the Rest
There is a bit of a basement battle at Home Park where Plymouth Argyle will go in search of their first win of the campaign when they take on AFC Wimbledon while Accrington Stanley will look to continue their first start away to Shrewsbury Town. The other appealing match on the card sees Coventry City heading to the capital to take on Charlton Athletic.

Betting
After a decent week overall I’m going to top it off with just the one bet on Saturday afternoon which comes at Roots Hall where I think Southend United can pile even more misery on Karl Robinson by beating his Oxford United side.
I saw Oxford on Tuesday night and I didn’t think a huge amount to them but they were forced to do plenty of running and I wouldn’t be surprised if they have a few heavy legs in what will be tough conditions with all the rain around on Saturday. Southend are usually good on their own patch and will be buoyed by their midweek win at Burton Albion. Oxford have shipped goals on their travels this season and if they leak a couple more here it is hard to see them getting anything from this one.
Tips
Back Southend United to beat Oxford United for a 4/10 stake at 1.85 with Coral
