A wonderful week at Walton Heath comes to an end on Sunday when the final round of the British Masters takes place over a golf course which has had the better of things throughout the first three days but with conditions set to change the players should dominate over the last 18 holes.
Some big names have made their way to the top of the leaderboard to do battle for one of the most prestigious titles in Europe so as with the three renewals that have gone before it we are set for a wonderful finale to the event.
Round 3 Recap
After 54 holes it is Eddie Pepperell who has maintained his lead and he will have three strokes on the field to protect over the final round on Sunday. He sits on nine under par with four men making up the chasing pack on six under par. They are Alexander Bjork, Jordan Smith, Julian Suri and Julien Guerrier. Matt Wallace and our pre-tournament pick Andrea Pavan make up the top seven although they are five back on four under.
Last week’s winner Lucas Bjerregaard is alongside out other pre-tournament pick in Matthew Fitzpatrick on three under with Trevor Immelman and Adrien Saddier making up that quartet. Andy Sullivan and Tommy Fleetwood are among a large group of players who will need help from Pepperell on two under par.
Sunday Betting
Obviously there is only the outright market to have a go at in terms of the big odds one but I have a couple of players in the top 10 that I’m hoping can deliver some kind of pay out for us over the course of Sunday. I’m tempted to back Eddie Pepperell at evens as I do think he’ll hold onto his lead but the conditions are set to be wet and heavy and that changes the dynamic of everything enough to make me swerve it and hope that the two I’m already on can do something spectacular and land something of an outcome. That takes me to the two balls for a Sunday punt.

Sunday 2 Balls
For the first time this week the players will go out in twos on Sunday to conclude the tournament with the last pairing of Eddie Pepperell and Alexander Bjork going out onto the golf course at 13.10 BST. Julian Suri and Julien Guerrier go off nine minutes before them in the penultimate group of the final round. Much earlier in the day one of the more popular groups will be the one that has Andrew Johnston and the defending champion Paul Dunne out alongside each other. I’ll go with one bet.
Sam Horsfield vs Marcus Kinhult
Match tees off at 11.08 BST
One of the middle matches out onto the golf course on Sunday sees two of the younger brigade of the European Tour in action when Sam Horsfield goes out alongside Marcus Kinhult with both men looking to maximise their finish in the event.
I think it would be stretching it to say either man can win the tournament so they will be playing for prize money and world ranking points but I think the change in conditions can suit the Englishman here. He will be able to lean on a few more drivers with the course playing wider after the overnight and early morning rain and that will suit Horsfield. Kinhult may not go without a fight but with a good start Horsfield will be able to get some positivity going and let his talent shine.
