Most top leagues have the weekend off for the international fixtures but that is not the case with the MLS where we have six matches over the course of Saturday night in what looks a competitive evening in America’s top division.
We have a couple of TV matches to enjoy over the course of the evening so we can keep up to date with everything that is happening. There are plenty of streams around for the other matches so we can enjoy all the action.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off time in brackets)
New England Revolution vs New York City FC (17.30)
FC Dallas vs Portland Timbers (19.30)
Columbus Crew vs DC United (22.00)
New York Red Bulls vs Minnesota United (23.00)
Colorado Rapids vs Sporting Kansas City (02.00)
Vancouver Whitecaps vs Los Angeles Galaxy (03.00)
Big Matches
The two TV games see FC Dallas taking on a Portland Timbers side who really need to get their season up and running after a disappointing beginning. The other TV match sees Columbus Crew hosting a DC United side who have looked incredibly poor in the early stages of the campaign.
Best of the Rest
All eyes will be on the one match in Canada when the Vancouver Whitecaps take on the Los Angeles Galaxy who made big news in the week when they signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He won’t be available for them in the match but they will hope his arrival gives them the boost they need. Colorado Rapids take on a suddenly free scoring Sporting Kansas City while both New York sides also play. City go to New England Revolution and the Red Bulls host Minnesota.

Betting
I’m going to go with two on the card on Saturday with both of them coming in the TV matches and it is both home sides I like. Portland Timbers have looked appalling so far this season whereas we saw FC Dallas look decent albeit against 10 men last week. One of the traditions of the Timbers is that they have been poor travellers for far too long now. You rarely get much change out of Dallas defensively and given how dynamic they looked last week and how utterly woeful Portland were defensively last time out I’m with the home side here.
Columbus Crew have begun the season very well with an eye catching win over the champions Toronto FC in their season opener and I expect them to be too good for DC United in the second of the TV matches. We saw DC United at Atlanta a couple of weeks ago and they looked the ordinary side that I expected them to be this season. This week they are missing a stack of players due to international duty and the Crew look to be in position to take advantage.
