There is one match in the Royal London One Day Cup on Tuesday and it comes from the North Group where the two biggest rivals in the county game collide as Lancashire host Yorkshire at Old Trafford.
This is the final match of the competition for Lancashire and they go into it knowing they can no longer qualify for the knockout stages. Yorkshire begin what is their penultimate match of the tournament with the knowledge that two wins from their final two games gives them a chance of progressing.
Lancashire
To be fair to Lancashire they picked up a win last time out when they saw off high flying Derbyshire but results elsewhere went against them and with Nottinghamshire meeting Derbyshire on the final round of games it means that whatever happens here the Red Rose can no longer quality for the knockout stages.
I don’t think Lancashire will need much in the way of motivation for this match although in the back of their minds there might be an eye or two on the Championship match which begins on Saturday. One thing the Red Rose side will need to do here is bat well because they will be up against a high quality bowling attack.
Yorkshire
They have not been able to find much consistency in the tournament to date, but if Yorkshire can win their final two matches, on top of beating Derbyshire in their previous match, they would have every chance of sneaking in through the back door in terms of qualifying for a quarter final. There is no wriggle room though. They must win both matches.
I guess we shouldn’t really condemn Yorkshire for lacking consistency. They have a big turnover of personnel over the course of the three weeks with internationals coming and going around any injured players that may or may not leave or return. The one thing you can say about them is that on paper at least they have a very good squad.
Team News
Lancashire have named an unchanged squad for this match which means there is still no Jos Buttler, Jimmy Anderson or Keaton Jennings for them. They might choose to make a couple of changes with that Championship match at the weekend in mind.
Yorkshire will be without Ben Coad who is playing for the second XI. Joe Root has been given permission to play on Thursday but not this match while Jonny Bairstow misses out too. Adil Rashid plays before heading for England duty.

Betting
I don’t think either of these two sides have had particularly strong campaigns in this tournament but I do think Yorkshire look the better of the two teams. That is on paper of course but I expect that to translate into the action on the grass too.
I certainly think they have the better bowling attack and while their middle order may lack a genuine form batsman the depth with which they have in their order probably makes up for that. Lancashire should be motivated for this one but ultimately they can’t qualify. I’m not one who thinks must win in sport equals will win but on this occasion I do like Yorkshire. That said though they are plenty short enough and with a shortage of markets to get stuck into I’ll leave this one alone.
