The fourth Rolex Series event concludes on Sunday afternoon and it promises to be a belting day of golf in the final round of the Scottish Open with a packed out leaderboard and a links golf course where the weather forecast suggests it could show its teeth to the stars of the game.
We saw a moving day of two halves on Saturday with the calm conditions in the morning replaced by trickier ones in the afternoon and that has combined to give us an extremely bunched up leaderboard with a number of potential winners on Sunday.
Round 3 Recap
After a brilliant day of golf it is Jens Dantorp who holds a one shot lead on the field on 13 under but they are absolutely queuing up in behind him. Six men sit a shot off the lead. They include Rickie Fowler, Matthew Fitzpatrick and our pre-tournament pick Alexander Bjork. Tyrrell Hatton and Russell Knox are in the group on 11 under while a sizable section on 10 under includes our other pre-tournament pick Joakim Lagergren, Justin Rose and Thomas Pieters. 33 players tee off within five of the lead on Sunday.
Saturday wasn’t a good day for our match bet with Scott Fernandez landing no blow whatsoever on Trevor Immelman, who handled the conditions and the occasion better than I thought he could if I’m honest. Our two outright bets got themselves deep into the mix though so it wasn’t all doom and gloom.
Sunday Betting
At this stage of a tournament I’m often looking at the outright market again to see if there is any value in a final day charge but thankfully there is no need to this time around because I have two deep in the mix and I must admit I have high hopes for Alexander Bjork to get the job done from here while accepting Rickie Fowler is probably a worthy favourite at the same time. Given that I’ve no need to get involved in the outright market again I’ll head to the two balls for a last bet on the tournament.

Sunday 2 Balls
Once again the leading pair are out quite late on Sunday afternoon. Jens Dantorp is out with Ryan Fox, who is in the final group for the second event in a row, and they set off at 15.45 BST with Matthew Fitzpatrick and Scott Hend ten minutes before that. The pick of the final round groups may well be the one that goes out at 15.15 BST which sees Rickie Fowler out with Russell Knox but there are some excellent pairings on the golf course for the crowds to enjoy. We’ll take one of them for a bet.
Jens Dantorp vs Ryan Fox
Match tees off at 15.45 BST
The final group out onto the golf course gets my attention here. Jens Dantorp holds a one shot lead over Ryan Fox and the rest of the field but Fox has the experience of being in the final group in the Irish Open last week which he will hope will help him.
I accept that the feeling Fox had last week will be good for him but I can’t help but feel that Dantorp is overpriced here. While Fox is one behind him his score is down to a seven under round in the benign Saturday conditions and you would argue that Dantorp’s two under in the tougher conditions was a better round of golf, especially with two bogeys in the first three holes.
I was impressed with the patience Dantorp showed on Saturday and that bodes well for him on Sunday. I can’t see him holding off the cavalry charge in behind him but I do think his form this week overall has Fox covered especially should the wind toughen up this test. Dantorp has a good record on exposed courses in the Nordea Masters and 21/10 on him to beat one man looks too big to me.
